Greetings unto the populace of Ketelblastr and beyond.

This is your weekly Thing and gathering reminder.

A Thing is not scheduled for this week (Saturday, December 5th) due to a lack of prior notice, but I will be holding and armouring session at my house beginning at 4:00. Please call me if you plan on attending.

My apologies for not being in contact with you folks sooner, things have been hectic to say the least.

Be well
Marcial de Salas

Warm greetings unto the populace of ketelblastr:

I am writing to say that I went over to Darkstone to take a couple of interested folks up for a practice (inpromptu) and attended one of their meetings. A couple of things came up

1-obviously we will not be holding the chirstmas party we were planning due to lack of time and proper planning. Given that we were going to invite Darkstone to the one we were going to throw, Mark and I decided to make it a joint venture. As of now, Lady Riva and myself are trying to plan out a 12th night party (Jan 6th I believe) and are currently looking into places to hold it. If anyone from Ketelblastr is interested in planning it out or knows of some fun places to hold a large party (we're looking at around 50 odd people attending from both groups) please get in touch with me.

There are a few places that I am looking at and will have to call when I have the time, Namely the VFW in Bessemer, memorial building in Ironwood, Powdermill and town hall in Ironwood twnsp.

2-we need to have a Thing this week, we have a lot of stuff to discuss and it has been too long since we have gotten together. So this is the official notice for this week's Thing.

We will be holding a Thing and Gathering on Saturday, December 12th beginning at 4:30 at Marcial and Kathryn's house. please bring some A&S activities for the gathering, fighters, bring your armour for an armouring session mmmmmkay?

Be well, fortune favors the bold.

Forming Group of Ketelblastr
Minutes of the Thing
Saturday December 12th, 2009 5:05-6:08pm
Marcial and Kathryn's House

In Attendance
Kathryn inghean Griffin-Deputy Chronicler, Marcial de Salas-Seneschal, Lord Frost Froknarson

Guests: Jeanette Jewell, Charles Williams

Old Minutes

Marcial was supposed to fix the previous minutes posted online as they were incomplete but never got around to it. The group decided there is no real need to fix it as it is still legible and nothing of importance was lost.

Marcial also recapped the previous minutes for the group.

Name and Device Submission
No progress yet. Marcial is to be in contact with Beth (Darkstone's Herald) to give a heads up and to get some input. Lord Frost reviewed the submission letter again now that Marcial had corrected it.

The device submission will wait until we get our name registered.

Domesday Report
Marcial stressed to those present the importance of getting reports (especially Domesday reports). Marcial got his Domesday report in on time. Astrid got it in too, albeit late.

Purchase of Materials
Marcial brought up the idea of purchasing leather, rattan, material, plywood etc for heavy projects as well as A&S projects. We could also look into buying a loaner helm. This will have to be run by the rest of the group especially Finna.

Lord Frost pointed out that we should buy only the material that we are planning on using and not stock piling needlessly.

Scattered Stones

Our second issue of Scattered Stones will be late due to our Chronicler's absence and printer issues.

Website
Lord Frost would like to use group funds to purchase web site designing software, Serif Webplus X4 to be specific. The estimate for the purchase is $40-$80m with a locked in quote of $60. The software would them be property of the group.

Marcial also showed Lord Frost some ideas he has for a front page design. The website purchase will wait until our name is registered.

File Folder Box

Marcial ran some prices for a file folder box which will be Ketelblastr Seneschal property by the group, ranging from $10.00 to $13.99. Marcial has to run it by the rest of the group as well as Finna.

Recipe Boke

Marcial requested that everyone who has made something for a culinary challenge get their recipes (original and redaction, listing substitutions and prep differences) and research together so that a Ketelblastr recipe boke can be put together.

Meeting Place

No news from the Ironwood VFW as it is no longer an option. No word from Gogebic Community College.

Our guest, Charles, suggested the use of the Ironwood Township fire hall, which charges an hourly rate, and we will be looking into the possibility of using it.

Lord Frost suggested placing an ad in the paper asking for a home for Ketelblastr, which could be paid out of group funds or personal donation.

Lord Frost also explained the difference between a Thing and a Gathering to our guests and also explained what a Thing / All Thing was in the Viking age and why we use the term for our business meetings.

Letters of Appreciation

The letters of appreciation / asking for permission of continued use of the space at the Powdermill Resort have not yet been delivered due to the absence of the owners.

Community Interaction

Not enough members were present to make any decisions on things Ketelblastr could do for community interaction / charity work. The closing date for being a Salvation Army bell ringer has passed, Kathryn suggested stuffed animals for the E.R., and Lord Frost suggested sock puppets.

Christmas/12th Night Party

Given the lack of time to plan a party for ourselves as previously planned, Darkstone and Ketelblastr are teaming up to hold a 12th night / Christmas party. The party date is yet to be determined. Marcial of Ketelblastr and Lady Riva of Darkstone are the planning committee thus far, though all who wish to help are more than welcome to do so. Darkstone and Ketelblastr are looking into locales and prices. SO far, Marcial has contacted the Knights of Columbus hall in Ironwood, Hurley Inn in Hurley WI, the Saxon Community Center WI, and the Kimball Community Center WI. Charles had info on the Ironwood Township Gym.

Ideas for the party are pot-luck food, a voluntary gift exchange (if you bring a present, you get to take one) as well as games. More ideas to come.

It was suggested that there be a price limit for the volunteer gift exchange. Garb will be worn.

Santa Swap

Given the lack of time to plan a proper Santa swap within Ketelblastr, we will do it via the volunteer gift swap at the 12th night party.

Darkstone

Jeanette, Marcial and Audun will be traveling up to Darkstone for armoring and practice tomorrow.

Lord Thomas Bjornarson made it to the 3rd round in the Champion's tourney at Boars head!
=D>!!VIVANT!!=D>

Misc:
-The Thing was followed up by an armouring session.

Next Meeting
The next Thing and Gathering for Ketelblastr will be held on Saturday, December 19th at Marcial and Kathryn's house. Call or e-mail for directions if needed. Bring you're A&S projects and Armour for after the Thing

Greetings unto the populace of Ketelblastr:

I am just writing to say that the Thing was called off at the last minute due to a lack of attendees.

Given the fact that we weren't able to discuss some stuff on Saturday, I would like to post up some info and I would very much like to get some feedback from you all (I shall post a poll after I write this post). Darkstone and Ketelblastr are planning a 12th night party and here is the info we have on locales thus far. Please review the info and vote on the venue you'd like to have it at. Also, the date is up for a vote. Any weekend after Jan 10th would be ideal.  I will post up a poll for this as well.

Knight of Columbus hall - Ironwood MI
no real info, we would have to send in a letter of intent to the Grand Knight with date and things of the sort.
Saxon Community Center- Saxon WI
They rent 1 big room with enough seating for 100 people with approx 15 tables..more than enough. Weekends are open as of now for the first and second week on Jan. It is $100 plus $150 deposit/clean up fee (which we get back if we clean up after ourselves and nothing is set on fire, broken, dissolved, death-rayed or elsewise destroyed). It is $25 less if we keep the site dry, but alchohol is permitted. 5 PM and later.
Kimball Community Center- Kimball WI
The price is $425 plus a $200 deposit. Alchohol is permissable until 2:00 am. Seating is for 150 people and they are open the first and second weekends in Jan.
Hurley Inn- Hurley WI
pre-decorated banquet hall free of charge, but we;d have to take them up on a buffet (chicken, veggie, potato, italian bread, spaghetti). We'd have access to their bar and rooms woudl be there for over-imbibed guests to rent. The charge is $10.25 a plate for the buffet....that could add up REALLY fast.
Ironwood Township Hall-Ironwood MI
$150 with a $150 deposit. If we wish to have alchohol, tack on another $100. On the plus side, they have a kitchen for our use and more than enough room to fight shoudl Darkstone Marshalls feel like working the night.
Valhalla Chalet - Washburn WI
Free.  Within the Valhalla Recreation area of the Chequamegon National Forest.  Depending on number of people, can get a bit crowded.
There is a wood stove and a fireplace/pit.  Limited number of tables.  Bathroom's are outside (pit toliets - not heated).  Lots of Outside space to do stuff.
Parking is $5.00 per vehicle (carpooling is a good idea).  I do believe there is No Alcohol in accordance to Forest Service Policies.
Student Lounge, Ponzio Student Center - Northland College, Ashland, WI
Free.  Outside space to do stuff (over by soccer field, not to far behind the Ponzio Student Cetner.  Good deal of space and tables.  Two microwaves available.
Has a fireplace.  I believe No alcohol, due to school policy and minor present.

Also, I would like to announce that the second issue of Scattered Stones is all printed up (and looking super-spiffy) and ready for our group. Please contact Kathryn if you would like to get your copy before our next Thing/Gathering (which I do not know when it shall be..kinda looks like the 2nd of Jan, but please do let me know if you all feel like having one on the 26th).

Be well, Have a Merry Christmas, Kwaanza, Hanukkah, Boxing Day, Ashura, Festivus or whatever it is that you and yours celebrate :)

Greetings

I am curious as to if this is an event, are we hosting this or sharing the $$with Darkstone, would there be an attendance fee? If this is just a party that we are hosting I think we should consider the less expensive sites.  Yes..I am still alive and consider myself a part of the group though my attendence has been lax as of late due to family things.

Milady Finna:

No, this is not an event, just a get-together 12th night party that Ketelblastr
and Darkstone are co-hosting. As far as I am aware, there is no attendance fee.
The only "fees" for anyone are your presence and cheer. Since this party is
pot-luck, you can bring a dish if you so desire, as well as a present for a
volunteer gift exchange if you wish to take part in that.

Darkstone and Ketelblastr would split the site cost 50/50 if we choose to go
with a site that charges. Below are the sites we had looked at, go ahead and
check out theinfo we have and cast your vote so that Riva and myself can talk it
over soon :)

Fret not Milady, things have been hectic all around due to holidays and stuff,
and few people have had time to play in the SCA, but we'll get back on-track
soon mmkay? Just glad to hear that you and your clan made it back safely from
your travels.

If this is a mere gathering, I would like to keep the group costs down, so I
obviously voted for the less expensive choices. Don's work schedule will
determine our "presence and cheer" (doesn't real life suck sometimes?!?).

I would also like to know when we can start working on our group/individual
banners and pennons? Did we determine a size and material limit? I would like to
suggest we do that and subtract the costs for those first before we contribute
as a group to the 12th night (IF there are group costs) since the pennons were
already decided! We have these winter months to work on them before the fair
weather arrives! I would like to volunteer the use of my dining room table to
lay out, measure, cut and sew the basic pennons. Individual embellishments can
be added at leisure! We shall be a Bold Presence!!!

(Yes,yes, I am still working on that name!)

Greetings Lady Lenore:

Yeah, seems most folk are going the inexpensive route (myself included). Tell
Lord Frost to duck out!!!! Call it research into shoe styles as most of us will
be in garb! ;D Mayhaps I'll just swing by the store and abduct him in true
raider style.

As for when we are going to get to work on pennants/pennons/banners, we have yet
to discuss it. We only got as far as designing our proposed devices and saying
we would commit them to fabric and saying we aughta buy the material for it.
"Things" have been few and far between the past month or so (though it has given
us more time for armouring and fighting, mua-ha-ha)and we just haven't gotten a
chance to talk about it as a group. I am hoping to hold one this Saturday, and
I'll be posting a notice later this week.

Sweet, yoru table is deff big enough to cut out large pieces of fabric :D If we
all get a pennon done, then our group will deff be able to decorate boldy at any
events or outdoor practices we hold, really show off our colors as it were.

already decided! We have these winter months to work on them before the fair
weather arrives! I would like to volunteer the use of my dining room table to
lay out, measure, cut and sew the basic pennons. Individual embellishments can
be added at leisure! We shall be a Bold Presence!!!

Ketelblastr and Darkstone are co-hosting. As far as I am aware, there is no
attendance fee. The only "fees" for anyone are your presence and cheer. Since
this party is pot-luck, you can bring a dish if you so desire, as well as a
present for a volunteer gift exchange if you wish to take part in that.

Greetings populace of Ketelblastr!

Marcial would like me to let everyone know that there will be a Thing held on 01/02/10 beginning at 4:30pm at our house (unless anyone else wishes to host our group at their home). We have a lot to discuss so if everyone can make it that would be great! If you need directions let us know. We look forward to seeing everyone in the New Year!

Yours in Service,

:) Kathryn :)

Forming Shire of Ketelblastr
Minutes of the Thing
Saturday January 2nd, 2010 5:57-7:12pm
Marcial and Kathryn's House

In Attendance
Kathryn inghean griffin-Deputy Chronicler, Marcial de Salas-Seneschal, Jeanette Jewell, Charles Williams, Virginia Burgess, Guyle Burgess, Amalea Kravetz, Finna Ittaniemi-Exchequer, Astrid-Chronicler, Bullwhyf Kingslayer, Kristian Popko, Audun Eyvindr, Lord Frost Froknarson

Introduction

Marcial introduced the two new folks (Jeanette and Chuck) to the rest of the group who have yet to meet them.

Daily Globe Article
Marcial passed out the laminated copy of the article to the group in case anyone had missed it.

Name and Device Submission
Lord Frost and Marcial worked up a final revision of the name submission. Marcial read it to the group. It was approved by the group and the petition was signed by all those present.

Marcial looked into the designation of "village" and found out that it is reserved for forming groups. Ketelblastr likes the idea of adopting the designation of Village until it becomes full status, but Marcial will do more research into who can use the designation and if there is any special process that needs to be taken.

Scattered Stones
Kathryn handed out the December issue of Scattered Stones. Hats off to Astrid and Kathryn for putting out another great issue of Scattered Stones! Vivant!

Change of Officers

Astrid informed the group of her choice to step down from the office of Chronicler. The group thanked her for her service. There was a nomination and a second for Kathryn to take over the office of Chronicler, Kathryn accepted the nomination. The process of changing office will be taken care of soon. Astrid offered to continue helping with Scattered Stones, A formal election to the office of Deputy will be held at our next Thing.

Purchase of Materials

The purchase of materials such as Plywood, leather, cloth, a loaner helm, etc, was brought up to the group. Lord Frost recommended that we make up a list of projects and buy them accordingly. Finna has white sheets available for those looking to make garb. Astrid suggested going to some of the local hotels looking for sheets. The idea of purchasing dye to color the sheets was brought up. Lady Lenore and Lord Frost offered up their house for cutting of fabric and pattern making.

Individual Pennons

The group has decided to take on the project of making pennons for those whom have created a proposed device. We agreed on a standard size of 19"x22" plus an additional tail length of choice to stylize (such as pointing down, forked tongue etc.)

Marcial recommended those individuals with devices and names get them registered at some point to make them legitimate.

File Folder Boxes

Marcial informed the group on his finding and asked formal permission to buy a Sterilite file folder box for approximately $10. He will provide Finna with a receipt for reimbursement from group funds as the box will be property of future Ketelblastr Seneschals.

Website Software

Lord Frost found Serif Webplus X4 for approximately $50. This software would be group property, and would be used to build and maintain the group's website. The group approved the purchase, Don will initially buy it and provide Finna with receipt for reimbursement from group funds.

Meeting Place

There is no new news regarding the contacts we had made before. Ironwood VFW is out, GCC has not responded as of yet, and the former Pamida building is out. Frost once again suggested we place an ad in the Daily Globe stating we are seeking a place to meet. Kathryn and Finna volunteered to write up the ad. Lord Frost will ask about the Ironwood Township Fire hall.

X-mas / 12th Night Party

As far as we can tell it is going to be an "in-garb" party. If anyone doesn't have garb Finna and Ginny have some loaner garb available, please contact them if you need something!

Marcial did not get the poll results from the Yahoo group so a vote was held the results are as follows:

Valhalla-0 votes

Ponzio Center- 1 vote

Saxon Comm. Center-1 vote

Kimball Comm. Center-0 votes

Hurley Inn- 7 votes

Ironwood Township Hall- 0 votes.

By unanimous vote the group thinks we should hold the party on January 30th, 2010, to provide us a little more time for planning purposes.

Proposed activities (if allowed) are: horse fights, spear toss, bocce, bardic challenges of sorts, and possibly fighting- both heavy and rapier.

Marcial will pass along all the info to Lady Riva.

Historical Haire Affaire
The group was informed about this event being held by Falcon's Keep in Wausau WI on February 13th. Most of the group showed interest in attending, weather and finances permitting.

Recipe Boke
Marcial asked everyone to submit their recipes, redactions and notes from prior culinary challenges to create a recipe book for Ketelblastr. Proposed names for the book are:

The Book of Repast, Blasts from the Kettle, The Ketelblastr Cookbook, How To Serve a Viking, Food-Yumm!, The Anachronist's Cookbook, and Moldy Oldies. A poll will be posted up for members to vote for their favorite title.

Future Fundraiser

Group should start thinking of ideas for future fundraisers. A Valentine's Day fundraiser is pretty much out due to our possible attendance at Haire Affaire.

Culinary Challenge

The group drew lots again to determine the cuisine and courses for our next culinary challenge.

The cuisine this time around is going to be French, time non-specific within SCA timelines. It is to be held on February 6th, 2010. Courses draw are as follows:

Marcial and Kathryn- appetizers

Finna and Lea- meat

Ginny and Family- dessert

Lord Frost and Lady Lenore- veggies or fruit

Astrid and Bullwhyf- beverages

Jeanette and Chuck- any dish

Seneschal Domesday Report

Marcial offered up his domesday report so the group could look it over and see what was submitted.

Next Thing/Gathering

The next Thing and Gathering will be held Saturday January 9th, 2010. Location to be determined.

Misc:

-Many thanks once again to Astrid (Cassie) for her valuable service to Ketelblastr, we will always be in your debt.

-The Thing was followed up by an armoring session.

-Food provided this time was chicken pozole and cucumber water.

I'm not sure if anyone realized this, but Mistig Waetru is having their Xmas party/event, Wassail, on the 30th. Some of us here in Darkstone were planning to attend it. Or, at least I was; I can't speak for everyone else. :)

On behalf of Ketelblastr, I would like to extend a welcome to our new yahoo
group member, Jeanette (and by extension Chuck of course).

Now that you are a part of the group, you will be able to take part in polls,
check out the pics we have, and view the database and interact with us in
general!

Please do familiarize yourself with the database section, and go ahead and
create an entry for yourself under the roll call and go ahead and create an
entry for the food allergies (nobody wants to see you puff up and croak like a
frog sucking methane because we put peanuts in a dish and forgot to mention it)

Welcome and make yourself at home. ....trash pickup is on thursdays.

Forming Group of Ketelblastr
Minutes of the Thing
Saturday January 9th, 5:28pm end 6:25pm
Finna Ittaniemi's's House

In Attendance
Kathryn inghean Griffin-Chronicler, Audun Eyvindr, Jamie Brown, Astrid-Deputy Chronicler, Finna Ittaniemi-Exchequer, Bullwhyf, Marcial de Salas-Seneschal, Guyle Burgess, Virginia Burgess, Jeanette Jewel, Kristian Popko

Name and Device Submission

Marcial read off the email he sent to the Keythong Herald concerning the designation of "village". He has yet to get a response. He is also going up to Ashland to show their herald our submission entry.

Purchase of Materials

We are going to purchase materials for the group to make their individual pennants. We are going to base what basic color materials are bought on which colors are present on multiple devices. Marcial also suggested the purchase of plywood to provide our group with the materials for making shields for current fighters and Finna suggested a couple extra loaner shields. The purchase of 2 sheets of ¼ in. and 1 of ½ in. plywood was approved.

File Folder Box

Marcial purchased his file box and showed it to the group. Finna was given the receipt for reimbursement.

Recipe Book

A vote was held for Ketelblastr's culinary challege recipe book, with the title "How To Serve A Viking" being the winner with 6 votes.

Scattered Stones Newsletter

Darkstone officers will receive their copies of December's newsletter tomorrow. Marcial will ask exactly how many members of their populace want copies so in the future excess copies will not made, therefore conserving on ink.

Change of Officers

Kathryn and Astrid filled out the change of officer form, Astrid was officially nominated for Deputy Chronicler position, which she accepted. So as of today, Kathryn is Ketelblastr's official acting Chronicler and Astrid is her deputy. =D>Vivant!!=D>

Meeting Place

We might have the use of the downstairs of the Ironwood Township Fire Hall, Jeanette is looking into it.

Pennons

No date was set for a pennon workshop due to hectic scheduals for the next couple of months. Ginny suggested beet and tea dying of sheets for use in backing the pennons etc.

Twelfth Night Party

Marical read off Lucius's email informing us of Mistig's event on the 30th, meaning that date is no longer an option. Marcial talked to Gina at the Hurley Inn, unfortunately the Hurley Inn is no longer an option because it is booked until March, so new votes were held, and the date of the 23rd is now looking to be the best. As for locale, another vote was held with 6 votes being for the Saxon Hall. Marcial will inquire as to it's availability. If it is not available the group agreed that the Ponzio center would be the next best choice.

Event

Many in the group still wish to attend Haire Affaire in Wausau. Carpooling was discussed and Jeanette offered the use of the long range walkie-talkies for use on the trip. Some folks from our group are also thinking of making it over to Fighter School held in the Barony of Jararvellir. Marcial will talk to the folks of Darkstone about carpooling options.

Darkstone

Marcial, Tobi, Jeanette and Jamie are going up to visit Darkstone tomorrow.

Armouring

Marcial is going to hold an armoring session Thursday January 14th at 5:00pm at his house. If you're interested feel free to show up. If you need directions, email or call Marcial. BYOT. (Bring your own tape)

Misc:

Finna prepared a delicious pottage for us to eat which was enjoyed by all. Marcial brought Gjestost and chevre cheese as well as honey butter. Kathryn brought limpa and soda breads. We practically had a feast!!

The Thing was followed by a heraldry and sewing session.

Ketelmjod-

Marcial is looking into possibly purchasing The Compleat Meadmaker sometime soonish. Going to ask Pizani Distributing for glass bottles.

Twelvth Night Party

Saxon Community Center is booked for the evening of the 23rd. Marcial and Riva are to pick up the key. The party is slated to start at 4pm (key will be picked up at 3) and will end at approximately 10pm (hall must be cleaned and key returned by 11pm). It is to be potluck and in garb. If you wish to participate in the gift exchange, bring a gift.

Name and Device Submission

Marcial is going to find email for Darkstone's herald to get input for our submission. Lord Frost informed us that any individual wishing to register their name and device, you must first be awarded your Award of Arms.

Purchase of Materials

Marcial ordered the plywood, the estimated cost is going to be around $30. Ginny brought the material she purchased for her families pennons. Lord Frost suggested the group use a base material for all pennons on which our individual devices will be placed upon, the same color to show unity within the group. The idea was well received and the group agreed to have this base material come out of group funds instead of having material for individual pennons come out of group funds as previously voted. The dimensions for the pennons will be decided on once the material is purchased. "Ketelblastr green" is the base color that was agreed upon. Finna and other members interested will plan a shopping trip to pick out the fabric.

Scattered Stones Newsletter

Kathryn reminded the group that any submissions will be due on February 15th for the next issue of SS. She also asked officers to start working on their letters to the populace. Kathryn is looking into possibly getting PDF version on newsletter online to help cut costs of printing hard copies, as well as making it available to a much bigger population.

Change of Officers

Waiting on Lady Lenore's signature on the CoO form. Lord Frost took it to gain her signature and will return it as his earliest convenience.

Change of Officer Forms

Awhile back Marcial gave the officers their CoO forms, he asked that a copy be returned to him to be kept in Seneschal records.

File Folder Box

Broken already-oops! In true SCA style the group suggested we use duct tape to fix it.

Culinary Challenge

Marcial just reminded the group to start researching if you haven't already. Marcial and Jeanette offered up spices they have if anyone needs them (grains of paradise, saffron, galangale, mace, long pepper).

Haire Affaire

Marcial recommended anyone interested in going to Haire Affaire RSVP to the autocrat/feastocrat so that they have a better idea of attendants. Carpooling was discussed. Ketelblastr might see our friends Jessica and Rick, as well as their Stellar Majesties at the event, so a good time should be had by all.

Exchequer's Report

Riva has been in contact with Finna concerning the Domesday and 4th Quarter reports. Finna's 4th quarter report has to be in by the 30th. Finna and Riva will meet up sometime between now and then to fill out the 4th quarter report and so that Finna can learn what the Domesday report is going to be like once the reports get more involved.

Misc:

- A spaghetti dinner was provided by Kathryn, and Ginny provided the group with delicious pumpkin chiffon pies.

- The Thing was followed up by a sewing/ heraldry session.

- Thanks to Jackob we ALL know the Muffin Man. He lives on Drury Lane. J

Hi Everyone!

This is actually not true (although it can get a bit confusing when you start reading things). Anyone can register a name and a device; you do not need to have been given an Award of Arms. After you do receive an AoA, however, the SCA stops calling it a 'device' and instead calls it 'arms', etc.

Hope that helps. :)

Name and Device Submission
Marcial is going to find email for Darkstone's herald to get input for our submission. Lord Frost informed us that any individual wishing to register their name and device, you must first be awarded your Award of Arms.

Just saw an ad on the Superior Chronicle today that Different Drums of Ireland
will be at the Ironwood Theatre on March 17th (Guess what day that is). If you
can spare the dough definately go see this band. I and the wife saw them
several times both at Irish fest and at Big Top. They are worth the money.
Plus if there is a large enough crowd maybe they will bring in Gaelic Storm?

Here is their myspace website

Greetings unto the populace of Ketelblastr and beyond,

Tomorrow January 23rd is our combined 12th Night Party with Darkstone. Just a reminder it is being held at the Saxon Community Center starting at 4pm and ending somewhere around 10. Please remember to bring your dish if you are bringing something for the potluck dinner, and your feastwear. Also, the party is BYOB, so bring something to drink! Site is discretely damp, so if you want to bring some alcohol to toast with feel free to do so.

This will be a garb affaire, but if you don't have garb don't sweat it, just come as you are and enjoy company.

We may have an improptu quickie Thing, but we'll decide that at the party.

Yours In Service,

Marcial de Salas

Greetings unto the populace of Ketelblastr and beyond.

Well, the party went well, thanks to Ketelblastr for showing up in force, it
made all the difference! :) I hope everyone had fun and made some new friends
with our sponsor group. Thanks to all whom brought a dish for the potluck, it
surely gave us one heck of a feast! I'm STILL feeling full from it!

Now, here is the important offer part of this message. It seems that our
cullinary challenges and general interest in cooking might have preceded us and
Lady Conandil Glass of Mistig Waetru made us an offer which we must consider and
decide upon before the 31st of this month (meaning we will discuss it at length
at our next Thing).

Mistig Waetru will be hosting Revel by the Lake again this year on April 17th.
Here is part of the message Lady Conandil sent. "I was wondering how your group
would feel about doing the feast for us. It would be great experience for you.
You would design the menu and prepare the feast. We would provide the money and
the local shopping so you won't have to transport all the groceries." If last
year repeats itself, we might literally have to cook a feast fit for a king as
Royalty might attend.

Consider this and have pros and cons ready for Saturday so that we can make the
right decision and so that I may give a responce after our Thing. :)

I remain yours in service
