Recently, I got to meet a famous cartoonist. I begged for a tiny sketch, which
the gracious artist drew for me. Now it is gone...lost forever. I'm heartbroken.
I could probably find an email or snail mail address, and send a note asking for
another, but that would be rude of me, right? After all, it is my fault for
losing the art. Should I be tacky and ask for another, or should I just accept
losing it? What do you think? Some of you out there are artists, after all.

The only news I could find about the new cartoon series "Scooby Doo:Mystery Inc.was on Wickapeadea. And it just said it will be out late in 09?[Funny 09 only has 2 months to go?] It also it said the the What's New cast will be reunited.[More Mindy -oh joy!] The only thing the CN has been crowing about lately is the live action "Ben 10" movie out in November. I have a feeling we will see something after the first of the year.-Jreb

Wait a minute; what's going on with the new Scooby series that was supposed to
come out this fall? That would have been WB produced; right? Could this apparent
hiatus of WB animation be what's holding it up? Or is this only about movies?

I said this a long time ago in a nasty letter that I wrote to DC comics. The
plots are too complicated to be resolved in a 30 page book, especially if DC
insists on cramming 2 stories into a single issue and then putting lame puzzles
and fan letters in it to boot. (They published the letter too). I'd rather see
a single story per issue, like they used to do when the comic first started in
97.

first was set in a Japan and involved a Japanese mythical bird-like beast called
a Tengu that was haunting a Sumo arena. The fact that there were no clues left
behind by the Tengu was apparently enough of a clue to allow Velma to work her
magic, but this was as far as I can remember, one of the few cases where the
villain was not someone the Scooby gang had met during the course of their
investigation. I went back and reread the story and the person who was unmasked
wasn't even in the background of any of the panels. On the plus side, Velma got
to expound at length on the history and culture of Sumo wrestling.

We will have to suspend our disbelief that a group of teenagers would be allowed
full and free access to the prison. This time, the villain at least had been
met during the course of the investigation, but again there were no clues
revealed prior to the unmasking that would have allowed an interested reader to
solve the mystery on their own.

Perhaps the animated Scooby movie is not far behind.

Warners nears deal for peacock pitch
Source: The Hollywood Reporter Sun Oct 25, 2009, 2:00 pm EDT

Warner Bros. is strutting back into animation.

The studio is in final negotiations to acquire a pitch centering on a peacock
from writers Austin Winsberg and Heath Corson.

Trevor Engleson and Nicholas Osborne will produce via their Underground
Management banner; Elishia Holmes will oversee for the studio. The logline is
being kept under wraps.

The move marks a bolstering of animation efforts for Warners., which was once
very active in the sector but had since scaled back its theatrical efforts. It
did, with director George Miller, develop and produce 2006's "Happy Feet," the
music-themed penguin pic that earned nearly $380 million worldwide and won the
animation Oscar. The studio is developing a sequel.

Warners, which controls vaunted properties like "Superman" and "Scooby-Doo,"
does produce a slew of animation content for television and home video.

Winsberg, repped by UTA and Underground, is a veteran TV writer who has worked
on shows such as "Jakes in Progress" and "Still Standing." Corson is repped by
APA and Archetype.

The peacock project is the latest sign that studios are ramping up animation
efforts as the category continues to be a bastion of reliability for the major
studios in a time of boxoffice uncertainty. Sony has a huge breakout this fall
with "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs," while Fox continues to evolve "Ice
Age" into one of its signature franchises.

Okay folks, it is October...official Scooby-Doo month, in my opinion. In years
past, there's been some great art of the Scooby-Doo TV show. But this year, I
haven't seen as many. Sooooo...............

LET'S HAVE A SCOOBY-DOO SHOW ART JAM!

Grab a pencil, paper, coloring instruments, etc. and get drawing some stuff from
the Scooby series. Draw Fred, Velma, Daphne, Shaggy or Scooby....draw a monster
and/or villain from the show. Pass the word to others! Get it to me by Thursday,
October 29, so I can post it or fave it by Halloween!

Thanks!

Jag
