Welcome to Vaisnava Ecologists (VECO). This group is for devotees and friends of Krishna who are interested in discussing the place of ecology in Krishna Consciousness.
This discussion is not about demi-god worship, materialism or anything else that would distract us from our practice of sadhana bhakti. It is about overcoming the hard-heartedness that manifests itself as abuse and neglect of the planet on which we live.
Bhumi Devi is a demi-goddess whose realm is this Earth. She is a loving devotee and servant of the Divine Couple, Sri Sri Radha and Krishna. She, along with all the inhabitants and elements of this world, belong to Krishna and as devotees, it is our duty to care for Krishna's belongings with love and honesty.
As aspiring Vaisnavas, we are endeavoring to soften our hearts, develop compassion, humility and foresight. When we honor all living entities by respecting the resources provided by Krishna through Bhumi Devi for their sustenance, we naturally develop austerity, renunciation and tolerance. When we accept what is provided for ourselves and not take advantage of resources that are meant for others, we develop truthfulness and mercy. Doing our part to keep the Earth clean will remind us to keep our own consciousness clean and by so doing, we will be better able to remember Krishna.
VECO is part of the Vaisnava Family and Community Conference (VFCC). Please visit VFCC's homepage to view its purpose and the guidelines for participation in VECO.
