VA Mothers United for Midwives is dedicated to forming networks of support for the Midwifery Model of Care. We recognize the sovereign right of mothers to call upon who they wish when they give birth. Should the mother deem the service of her attendant to be worthy of compensation then that is a private matter between her and her attendant.

Birth is a natural, healthy life event. It is the responsibility of the mother to take care of herself and her child. It is society's responsibility to make sure that a mother has access to the care that she feels she needs during her pregnancy and birth. When a mother's needs are properly met then her child's needs are met as well.
