Concerning to IARU Region 1 rules digital modes are specified from
10.140 to 10.150 kHz. Therefore 10.143 kHz would be much better and free
of any beacon or stations using cw. Pat, you'll find me @10.143 and
14.073 in V4chat mostly at weekends. But send me a mail for an
appointment if you like (et zijn 125 km tuissen onsere QTHs, ik denk dat
de 40m band optimaal wil werken. En 80m band antenna heb ik met end van
04/2013).

IARU is discussing to harmonize the 30m band in region 1, 2 and 3,
because 10 MHz allows "interregional" traffic at day and night.

Both your emails have just popped onto my screen!!

Chris, I could hear you loud here in IO80jx and received just your name and QTH – that may still count as a QSO !!  Hi Hi

I also heard you in QSO request to M1DFO / Alaster.

We can try again on 60m –later – S6/7 here.

Eugene and Alaster,
I got all your text Eugene before the disconnect... so a QSO!
Got a connect request from Alaster but nothing else.
Tom DF5JL heard me at abou 5 7 but couldn't come back as 5 MHz not permitted in Germany.
I will put out a CQ at around 16:30 and see if anyone is around for a test/QSO on 5364 kHz USB dial if clear.

Eugene,

thanks for QSO yesterday, my 1st with V4.
Conditions were starting to change for the better during the QSO, shame I had to go.
How were conditions at your end ? I get varying amount of noise, it was about S8 (in 3kHz bandwidth) The inverted L works well for TX, but noisy on RX. I have made up a loaded dipole and as soon as the WX permits will put that up.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the info.

I was very pleased with our QSO on 5 MHz using V4Chat. I got my new NoV in January and have had a number of QSO’s on 60m using PSK31, PSK63 and CW (my favourite mode).

Conditions here yesterday were not good – though I did pick up some of your QSO. As you say, conditions improved towards the end of the contact. I have been using my long wire and SG230 for years – it is only up about 6m but for some reason works very on all HF bands.

In am very interested in V4Chat – in fact, I am very interested in ALL digi-modes – and I hope we can make contact again on 60m in V4.

It seems to me that the above frequency is shall we say polluted with many
varities of digital modes and of course all stations pile in this small space
leaving v4 in the same situation.

I myself would suggest for all v4 activity to move up frequency on 20 meters
into a quiet zone such as 14.107.5 to get away from the circus of digital modes.

On 30 meters 10.143 in that area seems advisable, this would give our EUROPEAN
friends a better chance to work the USA, since their frequency mode allocation
is somewhat different.

Just thoughts on this mess on 20 meters.

I finally unzipped V4 program.

I'll be parked on 7.073 and 80 m. After the Satern Net on 14.065 I'll jump over
to 14.073. see who is on.

I did notice a Station call CQ on 40 m. I went to copy his call sign and V 4
crashed and I lost the call sign. That was the 1 only station I saw last night.

in a posting. 14.105 Pactor stations sit on that freq. These can guys can link
into VHF and UHF Packet stations. There's Node in Colorado and the some are in
Newfoundland and on the east coast.

I'm not sure how much QRM you will get with that group and V4 just my 00.02
worth.

Would that be 14.107.5 ?? Or 14.073

I notice a lot of digital signals on 14.073. Nothing that V4 recognized.

14.1075 and 14.1065 are popular pactor frequencies.  14.1065 is the more used in this country and 14.1075 the more popular in Europe.  Anyone for sharing?
