I have just realized I included the wrong URL for the HHD Serial Monitor

Now QRV becautse 10m is open.
Yesterday was first complete BPQ chat testing by V4 on the world on 3590. Node

A few basic questions.
1. Do other functions work on your PC normally? If not, perhaps you have malware
on your PC? Did you recently install any new updates? If so, roll these back if
you can.

If your PC is normal other than V4, try re-installing V4.  You can contact me
off this list if you are still stuck.  Programs just don't stop working without
a good reason.  :-((

AFTER A LOT OF TRY'S AND MANY HOUR OF TRIAL AND ERROR I FOUND THE PROBLEM A
SLOW COMPUTER WITH OUTDATED DOT NET  SOFTWARE. IF I CLICKED ON THE DESKTOP ICON
"V4 CHAT" IT TOOK SO LONG TO COME UP IT WOULD CRASH AND THEN THE TNC WOULD LOAD
BUT WOULD NOT TRANSMIT FROM THE CHAT LINE OR SEND A ARQ CALL. SO I WENT INTO THE
FOLDER AND PLACED EACH PROGRAM ON MY DESKTOP AS SEPARATE ICONS. THING IS I MUST
BRING UP THE TNC FIRST THEN THE V4 CHAT AFTERWORD BEFORE THE PROGRAM WILL WORK
.. A DIRTY WAY TO GET THE PROGRAM TO WORK BUT IT IS NOW WORKING.. IT WORKS BOTH
ARQ AND FEC SO GO FIGURE.. ANY IDEAS ANYONE TO FIX IT BUT NOW I CAN GET BACK ON
THE AIR.

My experience with computers indicates that slow response usually means not
enough memory or you just have too many processes running.


For XP and XP Pro you need 750Mb for decent response
For Windows 7, you should have at least 2 Gb of memory...

Even an old computer can get a boost by adding more memory; memory is very cheap
now; I bought 1Gb of used memory for $15.00 at a local computer store a month
ago.

MemSet590 is an Excel program that lets you automatically set up the
memories in the Kenwood TS-590S. Once you have defined the memory
settings in the spreadsheet, you can then click on the Upload button to
transfer these settings to the radio. In the opposite direction, you can
click on the Download button, to transfer all the radio's memory
settings to the spreadsheet.

MemSet590 has now been updated with the five new U.S. 60m channels,
following ARRL's Recommended Practices for 60m. Otherwise the program is
unchanged from the previous version.

Hi, a buddy has got the file, accepted by Norton and Norman, but his WIN7
sais:"this file appears to be harmful to your computer and is therefore
blocked".

He tells me that it doesn't help lowering level on his firewall and shield
either.

So far he has not told me more about details.

I have XP Home at home, and have no problem. I am unfamiliar with WIN7
