As moderator of this group I like to personally thank you for joining. My name is Jean and I ran in the 2004, and 2006 election for Hillsborough County Commission District 4, and the following is just one of the reasons why I ran, and why I started this group.

Back in April, 2004 in Tampa, Florida, District 4 Hillsborough County Commissioner Ronda Storms led a majority of commissioners to reject the idea of extending health benifits to the domestic partners of county employees. The vote was 4-3. According to Storms "The institution of marriage has stood the test of time. I'm going to do my part to strengthen it, not weaken it."

Our community does not need anymore setbacks from someone who puts her interests ahead of everyone else. We must continue to take every opportunity to let our voice be heard, and let those in government know that we want the same rights to be recognized to get married, adopt, and that our LBGT community be treated with equal rights...human rights!!

As moderator of this group, I hope you find group this useful in expressing your views, and opinions. All I ask is that you be respectful towards oneanother. Because respect is what this group is all about.
