UpstateNYWelsh is an online community for people around the world who share Welsh ancestry in the upstate region of New York State in northeastern United States. "Upstate" includes the western, central, and eastern portions of New York State outside of the New York City metro area. To qualify for membership in our group, you MUST have an ancestral, family history connection to Welsh immigrants in Upstate New York.

All memberships must now be approved by the moderator. We do not accept memberships from anyone who does not meet our membership requirements. Our group does not allow spam, selling of products, nor the posting of messages not relevant to the topic of our group. For security reasons, we do not allow the transmission of attachments which can carry viruses and other malicious codes. These policies are in place to protect our group members and the integrity and uniqueness of our group. Members are also advised not to provide a lot of personal information in their Yahoo profile which is public. Yahoo provides this group at no charge to members, but in return Yahoo advertisements will be displayed.
