Unschool San Diego is committed to the supporting it’s members by providing a forum for discussion, social connections, and exploration. There is no single or universally accepted definition of unschooling. Unschooling is defined by the individual. For the unschooled homeschooler – that entails allowing our children to explore the world and the myriad of topics and information around them in the way that best fits with their personal learning style and our comfort level. Unschoolers are not focused on “doing school” and producing “artificial output” (aka teacher/parent generated assignments or worksheets) – the focus is on the individual – how they learn is a personal choice – just as their personality is unique, so is their learning style. There is no one way to unschool – there are as many ways as there are individuals pursuing the joy of learning unhindered by convention and societal dictums. We are here to be a support to one another as we strive to meet our children’s learning passions – come to terms with our own educational biases and conventional educational thinking. We come in all shapes, sizes, styles, philosophical and religious viewpoints. We are here to support one another and our children by providing a network of like-minded individuals interested in discussion, socializing, and exploration of the world around us with our kids. Flaming, rude, incendiary remarks, political soap boxing, foul language or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated on this list. We look forward to meeting you. This list is moderated in an effort to eliminate SPAM - all memberships must be approved by the moderator. Encourage – support – connect – explore --- question.
