We are a new member-driven Union representing a broad base of progressives, each with the power to vote. All members have a choice in determining its future, and we will use union power for political leverage.

The purpose of the union is to unite people across the broad spectrum of progressives in the U.S. to give back to you the power of the union we now call the United States in a real democratic union.

We are opposed to war as a tool of foreign policy, and we support not-for-profit single-payer health care, free education through four years of college, immigrant rights, civil rights for gays and lesbians, green environmental policies, non-fossil-fuels sources for energy, alternative media solutions to MSM, and abortion laws that fairly balance a mother's desire, or alternatively, her inability or unwillingness, to care for an infant, with right-to-life considerations.

Why not a new political party? Parties are structured around charismatic leadership. This union is about issues. There is a much larger base of support for progressive issues than there is presently for a progressive candidacy for President of the United States. The Union must therefore must be free from the limitations created by particular candidates and all the social and political baggage that comes with them.

Support for any candidate will have to be established by a vote of three-quarters of the membership, under preliminary rules set now.

We will not be asking members to donate money. The purpose of the union is to enable you to vote. There may eventually be membership dues when budgets have been developed for specific reasons, and costs can be established that reflect real need. Join now and become a force for change.
