agree, adultery is not the issue. The issue is
prejury. If the President did commit perjury he should be
impeached and removed from office. I hope he did honestly
ask for forgiveness, but that doesn't excuse him from
punishment. If you and I had committed perjury before a grand
jury we would already be in jail.
ell, like people, each church has unique
characteristics. And most UMC services are similar to those I've
attended in other denominations. The average size for a
local UMC is under 200, but some have several thousand
families, especially in the urban areas down here in Texas.
Most that I've known serve communion on the last
Sunday of each month; many large congregations have one
of their services that serves communion every Sunday
and every Wednesday at 12 noon.<br><br>Suggest

y the way, I noticed that all of you had gotten
caught up in the Clinton debate. I just wanted to relay
to everyone what I heard on the news:<br>For a
private citizen, adultery is perfectly legal in the U.S.
It is immoral, but legal. <br>Adultery is not the
issue here. What people need to focus on is whether or
not the President committed perjury, and should he be
punished for it.<br>Again, adultery is not the
issue.<br>Scott
ey! <br>I'm new here - I'm thinking of joing a
UMC church, and I was hoping people could tell me
about it, i.e what worship is like, how often you have
Communion, etc.<br>Hope to hear from someone soon.<br>Scott
s saying to kids that what Clinton did is OK.
What Clinton did is not OK. But what Clinton did is
not nearly the threat to the Constitution, for
example, as the deceit, lies, illegal activity,
un-Constitutional actions of Reagan and Bush, i.e., Iran
Contra.<br>Come visit.<br><a href=http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/impeachnot

ate, my husband is in the U.S. military and were
only living here in Japan. If he were caught having an
adulterous affair, he would be court-martialed and kicked
out of the armed services with a dis-honorable
discharge. Our Commander in Chief, however can do this with
no consequences. What message is this sending to our
children. I want mt children to be brought up to have some
Godly morals and no there are consequences to their
behavior. With this kind of example though it tells them
that if you hold the highest office in our country
it's OK to cheat on your wife as long as you ask for
forgiveness. Forgiveness is a gift, but there are still
repercussions for inappropriate bahavior.
etermine if your leader had had illicit sex? Would you ask questions about his
sex life under oath? Would you expect to get truth? Would you remove your leader
from office over this?
believe that Clinton should face inpeachment.
He lied to the world and to God. He will someday
face God for his actions. If he asked God for
forgiveness, God gave him that. Even with forgiveness there is
punishment, so too is it in this world. He may be forgiven
but he must be punished. You named other presidents
who did wrong, they too should have been punished but
they were not. Should we just let Clinton off because
someone else had an affair? I think not. That would tell
the world that it's OK to cheat on your spouse.
o any of you work from home, I

uch worse than Clinton would be the illegal and
unconstitutional defiance of the U.S. Congress by Bush and Reagan
(Iran/Contra Affair.) Much worse than Clinton would be the
philandering by JFK in the White House, virtually non-stop,
week after week.
ey y'all how is everyone. to get my 2 cents
worth about the impeachment i am for it. at first if he
would have just said it is between him. his wife and
God then i would have not been so upset. but when he
lied under oath "to tell the truth the whole truth and
nothing but the truth so help you God" he not only lied
to us and he also lied to God.
ello all, I am a new member to this club and i
think it is wonderful!!! I am currently serving as an
assistant/interim youth leader at a church in North Carolina. My
main question is does anyone know of any good
resources for youth ministry that I might use for program
ideas?? i would like to get some formal assistance from
any kinda of publication so any help would be really
appreciated!!! thanks a lot!!<br>In His Love<br>Brad
cannot speak for other members of this group,
but I am interested in hearing passages/quotes that
challenge you or encourage you in working out your faith.
Below is one that has influenced me:<br><br>"Let us
adore Jesus in our hearts, who spent thirty years out
of thirty-three in silence; who began his public
life by spending forty days in silence; who often
retired alone to spend the night on a mountain in
silence. He who spoke with authority, now spends his
earthly life in silence. Let us adore Jesus in the
eucharistic silence."<br>-Mother Teresa of Calcutta
re there any ordained deacon's out there? I'm
interested in pursuing the new ordained deacon track of
ministry, and would love to hear from any who have already
tread this path.<br><br>_greenbriar_<br><br>"Those
things, good Lord, that we pray for, give us thy grace to
labor for."<br>-Sir Thomas More (1478-1535)
hat about forgiveness....suppose he truly is trying to be right with God. That
is not for us to decide. Maybe he is forgiven by God, he said he asked for
forgiveness.
ate4johnson, can you tell me why I, as a United
Methodist, or more generally, as a Christian, should not
support Impeachment of the President. In my opinion, the
United states should send the message to the rest of the
World that we are still a moral country that will not
tolerate what our President has done. I believe he should
be impeached and convicted.
oes anyone here use chat, maybe I am on too early and do you do any sort of
Bible study. Let me know, I am anxiously awaiting...Have a GREAT day in the
Lord. Dreamer
was so happy to see other Methodists on-line.
My husband is in the AF and we are stationed in
Japan where there isn't a Methodist church. We are
really home sick for a church home, things have not been
the same going to a military chapel, where our
chaplain is mormon. <br>I too do not feel you must be
submerged to be saved. The only requirement I am aware of
to be saved is to believe in God, that He sent His
only Son who died on the cross for our sins. If you
believe, and ask forgiveness I believe He accepts that.
Take for instance death bed and death row prayers,
does God not hear their pleas for mercy and forgive
them and accept them into His kingdom? Just a thought.
Have a great day!!<br>Chris
certainly would be in agreement with you in
regard to emersion, but I struggle with baptism as a
requirement for salvation. I am aware of the Scriptural
requirements. You might find the UMC document, "By Water and
The Spirit" helpful. It's on-line at
www.gbod.org/worship/articles/water_spirit/intro.html<br><br>Hope it
helps.<br><br><><<br>Doug
have a friend, of which denomination I will not
say, who tells me that we must be baptized to have our
name written in God's Book of Life. He also says that
we must be emersed. I don't agree with him. Out of
curiosity, which of us is right and why?
I there!<br>I am interested in talking to other
United Methodists about the good and the bad stuff that
is going on in other churches. Let's talk about what
we are learning about God and His Word in our
churches.<br>Jan
