Rev. Shaw Accepts Call as Missionary at Large   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #41 of 73 |
As we reported last month, a group of Lutheran laity in the
Spotsylvania/Fredericksburg, Virginia area contacted ULMA last Fall
regarding assistance in starting a mission. Part of ULMA's commitment
is to place a Missionary at Large in their midst to serve in regular
Divine Worship services, Bible classes, and community outreach. The
group in Virginia began meeting each Sunday for Bible Study and a
Morning Prayer service.

The ULMA has a new Missionary at Large! Rev. James R. Shaw has
accepted the call from Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Decatur, Illinois.
Rev. Shaw's first assignment will be to serve at Agnus Dei Lutheran
Church, a recently formed mission congregation of ULMA in
Fredericksburg, Virginia. Rev. Shaw is a 1999 graduate of Concordia
Theological Seminary (LCMS) in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He has been
serving at Grace Lutheran Church in Lexington, Missouri since 2005.

Agnus Dei has been holding Bible Studies and a Morning Prayer Service
since December. They meet each Sunday morning at 11:30AM and use
the "Lutheran Service Book". Further details, including contact
information, may be found on their website at:
http://spotsylutheran.googlepages.com

This is a time of great rejoicing for our member and mission
congregations. Please keep us in your prayers.

If you're in the Fredericksburg area, please consider stopping by the
mission. They would love to have you visit.

Details on Rev. Shaw's installation will be forthcoming as the
information becomes available.
