The July, 2007 meeting in Marion, Indiana was a busy working session.
The full United Lutheran Mission Association Commission was present
including some visitors.
Reports were received/given from the mission congregations in
Wisconsin and Michigan. Sola Scriptura Lutheran Church in Wauwatosa,
Wisconsin reported busy activity in outreach to the community. The
congregation has been blessed with numerous visitors throughout the
year.
John Perryman from Escanaba, Michigan was present to report on the
activities at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, ULMA's second mission. He
gave a detailed account on how the church began and has grown in a
very short time. The Commission members asked several questions
regarding their experience and expressed joy in God's blessings on
their humble efforts.
The Commission rededicated itself and their member congregations to
continued financial and prayer support for the mission congregations.
Also discussed were the nearly ˝ dozen other interested parties
around the country in various stages of development who have talked
with us.
The "Get The Word Out" Subcommittee of the ULMA had contacted several
delegates to the 2007 Synodical Convention of the Lutheran Church—
Missouri Synod (LCMS). This has been a wonderful opportunity to reach
laymen and pastors regarding our mission. The proceedings of this
year's LCMS Convention were also reviewed at the meeting. The
Subcommittee will soon be contacting delegates from the Wisconsin
Synod, who also had a convention this year.
Based on some feedback from those we talked to, the Commission
revised our Mission Intent statement. Be sure to check it out on our
website at:

The Call Committee at Pilgrim Lutheran Church is actively working on
the feedback and inquiries since announcing our Missionary at Large
position. We have received numerous queries from WELS and LCMS
pastors around the country who are interested in being considered as
call candidates. The Call Committee has been pleasantly overwhelmed!
A call should be issued before year end.
Our website has proved to be a real blessing for people interested in
starting Lutheran missions. One case in point is the people in
Escanaba. Our material was easily available for them to read and
share before deciding to contact us about a mission. The traffic to
the site has increased since the announcement of our Missionary at
Large intent and especially since the LCMS Convention.
Various housekeeping tasks were attended to and other reports
presented. The member congregations renewed their strong financial
commitment to the ULMA with their pledges.
Summer is not a "rest period" for the United Lutheran Mission
Association. Those who are interested in who we are and what we do
are encouraged to read our News Releases on Yahoo!Groups and to check
out our website. If you or your congregation is interested in
Lutheran missions, please contact us.
