USS REPUBLIC NCC-1371 is the chapter of STARFLEET International serving the greater Atlanta, Georgia, metro area. STARFLEET International is a 501(c)(7) not-for profit corporation incorporated in the State of North Carolina in order to provide a social organization in which people of diverse backgrounds with similar interests can interact to promote the optimistic future as envisioned in the "Star Trek" universe and to support that optimistic future through community service, social activities and creative endeavors. With more than 80 members (as of May 2009), the REPUBLIC is currently the largest chapter of STARFLEET in the world.

Commissioned on May 14, 1988, at the Dixie-Trek convention in Atlanta, the USS REPUBLIC has a long and illustrious history and is the preeminent and best-known "Star Trek" fan club in the Atlanta area. The REPUBLIC plans and coordinates at least one (sometimes two) "Star Trek"-related activities for its members each month, including joint activities with other science fiction groups (KAG Atlanta, Atlanta OutWorlders, Stargate Atlanta, IKAV Nemesis, etc.); publishes a monthly eZine, "The Republiqué," and a quarterly magazine, "The Sovereign Star;" and offers its members a unique money-saving Member Benefits Program by partnering with several local businesses and retailers.

Membership in the USS REPUBLIC includes membership in STARFLEET International (SFI). Annual SFI dues are $15 and chapter dues are $10 per person; persons join both groups by making a single payment of $25 to the REPUBLIC.
