Description

This online group was originally called UNDAYOCTOBER2001. It was begun in conjunction with activities in Geneva to recognize United Nations Day in 2001. During the summer and fall of 2001, members of this group submitted and commented on subjects relating to the Global Digital Divide and "Tech for Humanity", to generate questions and content for two live web casts featuring, among others, Tim Berners-Lee, inventor of the World Wide Web. The live web casts are archived and available for viewing (see our YahooGroup message archive for more information on accessing these live web casts).

After the event, discussions continued, and people continued to join the group. So, we have kept the group going, to allow for postings and discussion regarding the Digital Divide and ICT4D (Information Communication Technology for Development), and efforts by volunteers, including UN Volunteers, through its United Nations Information Technology Initiative, to address these issues.
