Good people, I am starting to pile up a bunch of guest speakers. What with
all the guests and the beginner chats, our advertisements are starting to
clutter up the list. Here is what I will be doing: For the Beginner Basics
I will be advertising only once a month. If you would like a weekly
reminder, please email me offlist and I will add you to my reminder list.
For guest chats, I will be advertising only once. Again, If you would like a
reminder, please email me offlist and I will add you to my reminder list!!

We are getting some exciting people to chat with, so keep your eyes peeled!!
*grin* And, if there's anyone you would like to suggest as a speaker,
regardless of where they are in the world, please don't hesitate to ask. I
will do my level best to persuade that person to join us! And if YOU would
like to be a guest speaker, please email me!

Barbara

Hi there and welcome. I'm along the south coast in Dorset, but Margaret Reid
also lives in Wales - somewhere!!

I've done several things with Creall Therm, but I've never had it still feel
rubbery after it's been baked. Are you sure you baked it at the right
temperature and for long enough? I really don't know what to advise there.

As for doll moulds - I know Sue Heaser sells some through the Polymer Clay
Pit. http://www.heaser.demon.co.uk and
http://www.heaser.demon.co.uk/products/Kits/dollmoulds.htm#Hair is the page
at her site with the doll moulds etc. She also sells all the usual (and more
unusual) clay supplies as well - very reasonably priced IMO. No affiliation,
just a satisfied customer!

I make jewellery so don't really know of anywhere else over here that does
the moulds. Hope that's helped a bit though.

Hi Barbara,
I have been using creall therm for my figures for quite sometime and have been
pleased with the results-I don't know if there could be such a thing as a "bad

Hi Barbara,
I use a fan oven at 130degrees- I think it is essential to have even heat
distribution for sculptures. How long did you cure the clay for?It would probably
be a good idea to use you"fan assisted"function on your oven.I make my own faces
etc.-there are some brilliant books available on Amazon eg.family and friends in
pc by maureen carlson, which would help you make you own or you can order moulds
from various american sites, the shipping charges aren't too bad and the goods
usually arrive within a week.

Not sure why exactly you feel the fridge is necessary. You only
really need to put things in the fridge if your work is getting too
soft. I'm not a sculptor but I should imagine if you work on things
for a while it could get soft and you may need to stick it in the
fridge to firm it up a bit before continuing to work on the same
piece.

As someone who canes - I stick a cane in the fridge or freezer to let
it go nice and firm/hard before I slice it, that way it doesn't
squish down so much when I slice through or pierce to make beads.

I don't tend to go the chat room here. But there are quite a few
chats that go on at polymer clay central. I host a Thursday morning
one from 8-9am UK time. Otherwise you could always open a chat there
and announce on the board that you've opened one and invite other
clayers to join you. http://forums.delphiforums.com/polymerclay/start
to go to the notice board.

Might see you there some time!

I don't remember who or which list, but one of the gals turned us on to an
online jigsaw of a polymer clay piece. I love jigsaws. So I joined up and
made myself a whole album of online jigsaw puzzles of projects I've done
over the last few years. If you would like to play, please do!!!

I'm sorry, but I am not able to help you, I've never used this chat.
Have you tried the chat over on Polymer Clay Central. I think Shelley is
there every wednesday morning, and saturdays too??

Good luck with it.
As for flowers, try the tutorial-section at Polymer Clay central, there are
tuto's for just about everything.

Hugs
Helene
