As your Seneschal I want to tell everyone in the shire how GREAT the Demo went! We all helped and we all had fun. There was chain mail examples and fighters,Knife sheaths from fir and leather, Pottery, Lots of books, Did I say fighters? Staffs and information with a DVD running all the time. Two pavilions and Flags and the neatest new flag stands, So much. Nambla came from Fire Mountain area with her dh Fergus and Son Artimus, Both those fighters. She, Nambla is great at telling the public what they want to know. Cedric the other heavy fighter is my son from the Yamhill area. Speaking of family the McMannis Family did their shares today as well.
We even had royalty at our demo, Baron Louie and his Lady were a great help as well. All in All it was a good Demo, we learned lots and have lots of fun. Thanks also to Ray and Diana who looked good as always. Thanks for all your work!
Thursday, July 13, th , Coquille Farmers Market, Informational Demo(No Fighting) If you want to do it again.
What a great event !!
Wish more of Tymberhavene could have made it!! Our very own Brendan
ap Llewelyn stepped up as the Summits Chirugeon!! Our heartfelt
congratulations to Brendan for not only assuming the challenge of
this position (which is a greater office of the Summits) but for
also bringing word fame to Tymberhavene !!
Way to go Brendan congratulations !!
At the same event, we had the new Prince and Princess of the Summits
assume the thrones, Tjorkill Khan and his Lady Sylva Khatun,
congratulations to the new Khan and Khatun. This will be an early
period mongol reign. They looked splendid coming into court to
assume their role on horseback.
And of course there was the usual array of merchants, our very own
Mehitabel of the Sitkum Soapworks was there along with a host of
other great merchants.
Let us not forget the very mainstay of our fighters .. the
tournaments. There were several including a never won a tourney
tourney and a so you want to play too tourney along with the Summits
Defender Tournament. Congratulations go out to all those fighters
who came out to make the event more lively!!
There were visiting Royals as well. The Prince of Tir Righ came all
the way down to Investiture to visit as did King Sven.
Pictures from the event, including fighting, Brendan's stepping up
and the new Khan and Khatun's arrival on horseback into court.
Please go to the group page and look in the photos section under
June Investiture to see those photos !!
Thanks to all who attended and helped make it such a great event.

Well we got through that one so the Mall should be a bit easer. We set up my small popup that I had stenciled the night before and I put together some informational posters and We set up an info table and talked most of the day.
Next time we need a large SCA sign so people will know who is dressing funny at their Farmers market and what we are giving out information on. Could have used those banners and Flags but Ann will be bring them on the 24 th. So we will have them at the Mall. Of course more people in Garb would have been good but it was nice to see Ray and his beautiful scabbard and knife. It acquired a lot of attention. Kitn got a lot of nice words and questions as she worked on her tablet weaving and that was a great help. Thanks to Brendan and Ray and Kitn for working the booth. Next month we will do it again July on the 13th so plan on coming out in garb and having fun.
Being a mid-week event the turn out is light but we were still able to get our word out and let some people know we are here. Diana and Canby are attending City meeting so by the end of this month this county will know who we are.
This is a reminder to all that can attend. Tomorrow, Thursday in Coquille. Informational Demo 10 to 2 . Any one that can come in garb and talk or bring arts and Science info Please let me know you are attending. Just email me will work. See you there.
Tymberhavene Demos
June 8th (Thursday) Coquille Farmer's Market 10 - 2. This is a
small informational booth type demo. If you have items to display
that would be good also.
June 24th (Saturday after Investiture) North Bend - Pony Village
Mall 10 - 2. We hope to have an A&S display booth, people in garb ,
and a fighting demo outside. We have at least 2 fighters coming from
Mountain's Edge. We could use more heavies, A&S display stuff, people
who like to talk about their A&S projects etc. Rapier Fighters would
be a good bonus! (Rapier is flashy, and people can wrap their brains
around it). There will be a lively Farmer's Market and Craft Faire
going on that we will be part of. Martial activities will be on
Grass. In case of bad weather, everything except heavy fighting can
come indoors.
Directions - take your best route to US 101. Coming from the North,
you'll come over the McCollough Bridge into North Bend. The second
light will be Virginia Ave - Turn LEFT. Pony Vollage Mall will be on
the Left about 1/2 mile up. There will be signs, including a large
Farmer's Market Today sign.

Wed our meeting will be brief with mundane business and long on Egils prep.

As was already mentioned garb is optional at meetings and depending on what kind of persona you would like to develop I can certainly work with you (after the may meeting, my may is suddenly very full) to create and trim some great garb.
My recent favorite Garb goes with my choice of persona LOL ... Norse, lots of them here in AnTir and the dresses are easy and pretty and I think they are flattering because we make a pattern to your measurements.
Also I do have some fabric available that we can start you with.
Upcoming events include Memorial Day Weekend where the Shire will be camping as a group at Adiantum's yearly event called Egil's at Lynx Hollow State Park in Creswell as I recall. and in June the Shire is hosting a demo at the Pony Village Mall i believe the date to be the 24th. And in
October our Shire will have been hatched one year ago at a camping event at West LaVerne Park so we will be going there from the 6-8 of October for a repeat event !!
Hi and Welcome.
Our meetings are the last wed of the month at the Coos Bay library at 6:30
pm.In May we will be a week early as we are all trying to go to Egils that
week. Garb is optional at our meetings and not an expensive thing to do.
Hope to see you May 26 th .

The Coquille Farmers Market www.farmersmarket-coquille.org has asked the shire of Tymberhavene to put on any kind of a booth we can. As simple as two people handing out info and answering questions on the lawn in front of the Coquille Library to what ever we would like. Drummers, Arts and Science demos, sales, Garb,
This will be on Thursdays and the market would like us to do it every month. The dates they have available are, June 8 th, and July 13 . I will be there anyway as will Brandon and Kitn so any other help would be nice. I have a fairly easy to set up pavilion and tables but could use help.
I can not remember what was said about the availibity of an SCA handout but I'll look in to it.
Ok what you all think? Email with good and bad but lets get out there and let them know we are here and what we do.
Hi,
Good to hear from you. We have started a shire here in the Coos Bay area
because many of us want to be able to attend events closer to home. The
group has a Demo in June planned and our Birthday Party the First of Oct is
also in the works. Some of us from the group will be attending 40 year
celebration and all that can will be at Egils this year for a start.
Our monthly meetings are held on the last Wed. at the Coos Bay Library. We
start at 6:30 pm. Please join us next month.
Some of us are at the Pony Village Mall on Wed's in April for the Farmers
Markets, Starting in May we will be there on most Sat. also. There is
information about the SCA posted in my soap booth. Just look for the Sitkum
Soap Works.
Email is always good but the phone also works.

Brendan
Unto the populace of the Summits, I Morrghan O'Siodhachain, send
greetings. I announced at March Coronet my intention of changing the
Summits Arts & Sciences Championship to a three round tournament. I
know that it is early to be considering a successor as Alpine
Scholar, but I would like to see all of the artisans of the Summits
compete to be the Arts & Sciences Champion of the Summits. I feel
that by having the contest at multiple events we will be able to draw
more competitors, and enrich the Summits by their skills.
So I issue this challenge to all that read these words, I will to
hold a series of contests to choose whom among you that would be my
successor. The next Alpine Scholar will be decided by their work in
the three competitions that shall be held at each of the next three
Summits Events. Round one shall be held at June Investiture, round
two will take place at September Coronet, and the third and final
round will be held at Winter Investiture with the overall winner
declared at Summits Winter Investiture.
To compete for overall, entrants will need to enter a minimum of
three items to qualify. You may enter as many items as you wish,
however only the three highest scoring of your entries will count
towards overall (this is to ensure quality over quantity). Entrants
may enter all their entries at one contest or divide between the
three competitions. The three items must be from at least two
different categories however I will not require you to specify Art
vs. Sciences. I feel that these overlap and add further frustration
and confusion to the competition.
And the fabulous prizes are . . .
A. The individual who is judged victorious in the Arts and Sciences
Competition shall bear the title Summits Champion of Arts and
Sciences. Should the Champion of Arts and Sciences be unable to
fulfill the obligations of the position, or is victorious in a Crown
or Coronet list, s/he shall resign the title to the Coronet. The
Coronet shall choose a suitable person to serve as Champion until the
next Arts and Sciences Competition. The Arts and Science competition
shall take place at Winter Investiture.
B. Duties and Privileges of the Champion of the Arts and Sciences
I. The Champion shall have a position beside the throne at
Principality Court.
II. The Champion shall promote and encourage Arts and Sciences
throughout the Principality.
III. The Champion shall be responsible for preparing and
conducting a contest to select an appropriate successor.
. . . and you will have the honor of representing the Summits'
artisans. I feel that this is a great chance to promote A&S, and my
hope is to pass the baldric to one who will enjoy sharing their
passion with those who wish to learn.
Categories are:
I. Fiber Arts
IA. Costuming
II. Culinary
III. Herbal Arts
IV. Brewing
V. Metal Work
VI. Wood Work

If you see a category that you feel should be included please let me
know as I am also in the process of updating the Champion's files,
and some of the old forms were missing.
Any and all suggestions are welcome and encouraged. I will also be in
need of judges if you wish to assist please contact me. You can reach

Greetings unto you and your family from Tymberhavene
We certainly would welcome you and anyone else to come and enjoy the hospitality of the SCA in this area.
We are currently in the planning stages for a Demo and will be calling on not only our sponsor but also other local branches for assistance. As soon as a site is confirmed we will be announcing the demo and our request for help.
Our business meetings are currently held on the last Wednesday of the month at the Coos Bay Library starting at 6:00pm (my Lord will probably correct me on the time as I can't seem to remember if it starts on the hour or the half)
Until we meet, safe travels to you and yours

No one should need to have a Yahoo account to access the mailing list.
If they send an email to the subscribe address, that should get them

and in torch light tourney… This will be one of the
hardest competitions in An Tir so start hitting the
gym now. Don’t come complaining to us if you can
muscle it up for this one you have been warned.
With 20 youth events planned we are well on the way to
our goal of the most family friendly event in the
known world. Things to do for youths of all ages.
Seven factions, including 5 Barony’s will fight it out
for the much coveted, very powerful, very ancient
artifact known as THE GREAT AXE OF OVERCOMPENSATION…
Yes this legendary weapon will be given to the victor
of the war.
Arts and Science will have its own section of the camp
connected to the Merchants. Arts and Sciences row will
be the location for classes and all Arts and Science
competitions and features.
Dozens of fun competitions (Some more period then
others) will give anyone showing up of any skill level
a shot at helping their faction to victory.
All new war scenarios will give you plenty of fighting
without the boring same old bridge-castle-unlimited
resurrection blahs. For Tryggvy’s war nothing will be
spared to bring you a unique war field experience.
Lots more to do at the event then I can put on this
note so check out the Web Page:

So July 28th 29th and 30th come to Southern An Tir’s
Barony of Three Mountains and join us on the green
grass and the lovely cool shade of Milo Mciver park
for a great event. We promise you a memorable event
like no other.
Hope to see you there.
