Dec 7th Meeting   Message List

There were 11 people there for most of the meeting. Roy, Alice, Eric, Gary, Nathan, Tom, Max, Dylan, Matt, Dylan's mom and me. Dylan's mom hung out with us for a while and went to eat at Pizza Luce after ward. We had the smallest conference room and it was a tight fit.

Micropolis has several new modules and some older ones which filled up quite a bit of the table with it's 7-8 square blocks. If we had everything everyone's built we'd be nearly twice as big. There's talk of light rail or train tracks cutting through town. And maybe a bluff.

The Dirty Brickster gift exchange seemed a hit. We didn't steal many presents so the game ended quickly and I wound up with two pirates sets on a trade. I like those pirates sets and am glad to have the minifigs and the parts. I am a firm believer in buying multiple copies of the same set for building stock. Dylan's mom took a picture of the group with it's presents and we should see that before too long.

Roy brought his prototype for part of the State Capital building. very nice. We need a picture.

he's going to be building that and the cathedral

for the historical society. Big too. Roy regaled our ears with his tale of buying so much LEGO at the Mall store that he had to borrow their cart to get it to his car. Since Alice works there part time and it was employee 50% off day the score was doubly good. We all sighed as we fantasized about having so many new boxes piled up in your house that they are in the way. Nice. The proto type looks nice too. Roy played Santa and passed out Pick-A-Brick boxes he had gotten from the LEGO store when he bought all that LEGO. You get one box for every $75 you spend. That promo is going on right now and you can bring the boxes in to fill up after the 26th of Dec. It's the size of a small cup. It's a very nice little box. Makes a nice collectable. thanks Roy.

Roy had an idea for building a small Micropolis size version of the two building and making sets to sell as a fund raiser. Tie it in with the historical society and his LEGO versions of the two buildings. I'll let him fill you in on that when he gets a chance. First thing to do is come up with some prototype models. So take a shot at a small version of the Capitol building and the cathedral. I'm not sure what scale to tell you but close to the Micropolis size buildings. Small about 100 pieces so it can be cheap to get the parts and easy to build. That's kind of like the guys in Chicago who made the Sears Tower that Gary brought to the last meeting. That was an impressive package and it was about $20 bucks. I wonder if they are making any money?

We put together some of the sets that people got in the gift exchange and that was fun too. I put together the Pirates Kraken Attackin'. Besides the attitude in the name of the set it has a cool dark red Octopus. They are calling it a kraken on the set but Eric says a kraken is a squid. What are you going to do? I'm using one as the head of an elder god in my most recent Micropolis module. Pics coming soon.

Then it was Pizza Luce.

Next meeting is Jan 25th. Don't remember which room.

We're going to have to go to a smaller scale than that for the Capitol building and cathedral. I did a quick check of the "satellite" image on Google maps and...
