It does greatly, I am finishing up the trim before I slash the material. But I have some of that fusiable biased tap just for that purpose. I plan on slashing
How the edges of slashes are finished depends on the type of material, the size of the slash and whether the slash is made on the straight or bias grain. Small
A hot knife or pinking tool would work great for rayon velvet, but this is real velvet. I don't know what exactly would happen. I was thinking of folding each
I believe if silk is slashed with a heated instrument it will stop the fraying as well. There is mention of it in the Tudor Tailor, at any rate. I have not
There's a picture early in the book of a man with a black doublet (velvet?) where it looks like the slashes are edged in gold. Perhaps a buttonhole stitch?
