Outside of eBay's Completed Listings, does anyone know what the current cost for
a mint Pizzazz? I have one with good condition box, mint guitar, one sock, one
dress, two "metal" arm bracelets, no comb, no shoes, no tape.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Thanks, Jayson, for the link.

Neat character creating, Omar. I like the moustache on Luis. Oh and thanks for
the information that the My Scene Birthday males had smaller heads than the
regular My Scene line.

Hi Christy!

I just saw the article on this website:
http://www.pajiba.com/trade_news/jem-and-the-holograms-movie.php which states
that Hasbro and Universal have teamed up for a 6 picture deal based on toys, and
that a Jem and the Holograms movie is in the very early stages of development.
It doesn't say whether or not it would be live-action or animated, but I was
wondering if you'd been contacted about it or if you had heard about it at all.

Thank you,

Jeed :)

display it would be great! Thanks for the info. I love the Jem art!

Hi guys. Not sure about Synergy but I will for sure ask her. She shared with me
the story of Jem. As you all know it all began with Hasbro creating the doll
line. Paula designed the characters before the dolls were created, and her
designs were also used to inspire the fabricators of the dolls.

Paula has a lot of Jem sketches but I am not sure how many she is ready to part
with. Its probably going to be something like 20 or so of Jem.

A website is in the works and will launch in January 2010. www.paulalafond. com

About me. Well my name is Francis Bertrand, Im a photographer and have been in
the art world for a while. If your curious you can look up my work at
www.francisbertrand .com.

Its a thrill being able to work with Paula. And yes, these are all real
originals. Her credit is on the series (I placed a credits image on the ebay
listings).

Ill chat with Paula about Jemcon... She is not one to travel much, but I might
just have to go myself with some of her pieces.

Thanks guys!

Hi There
Love the drawings.  You should ask Paula to come to a Jemcon and sell some
of her art there. The fans would love to meet her and see the art in person. It
would also let fans know this is legit, not saying it isn't just I've never
dealt with you and I can't ask Paula to confirm the info. in the listing.
Hope to hear more about Paula and how her designs came about.

Hi guys!

Just wanted to share this fun news, that might excite you guys. I recently had
the honor of meeting and now represent Paula LaFond, the character designer for
Jem and the Holograms. She designed all the main characters of the series
including: Jem, the Holograms, the Misfits and Synergy (as well as the other
main characters).

She has given me a collection of her sketches from her personal files. We are
also in the works of putting together a sketchbook for the fans, but we are
currently selling some originals. Thought it might catch your attention.

I dunno, I guess I'm a stickler for the comics and cartoons. I always thought it
should've been Storm Shadow and Scarlett together, because he saves her in
Vietnam (which could've been Afghanistan in the new movie). I hated seeing the
Baroness with Duke, because to me it was a cop out- there are already enough
good guys and good girls in the Joe team, and Hollywood took the last Cobra girl
(other than Zarana) and made her good. Big whoop in my opinion. I would've just
liked liked them to stick a bit more to the comics- its not like kids don't read
comics or watch cartoons still.

But I can understand about concepts like Bumble Bee becoming Charger in
Transformers. I guess I'm more anal/protective about G.I.Joe and Jem. I must be
getting old. ROFL ;) -Omar

See, I'm thinking the elements that came from Hasbro, and "Truly
Outrageous" was the Hasbro catch phrase, like Transformers "More That Meets the
Eye"
-- So that's why I'm thinking Hasbro might be looking for something
outrageous. Not really thinking about the show or aspects of the individual
characters just because more the likely everything would be different. Bumble
Bee is
a good example, he was a VW Bug in the 80's, then a Charger in the movie and
compact car in Transformers Animated.

Maybe "Truly Outrageous" is dated, and will be concept Hasbro won't use for
a new Jem. I havn't checked lately but the URLs that Hasbro bought are
showtimesynergy.com, jerricabenton.com, jemmovie.com, and
jemandthehologramsmovie.com. So I think it's safe to say those elements will be
in a movie -- but
how or what changes is in Hasbro's hands.

What Hasbro is doing these days is starting over from scratch, with just a
few elements from the older versions -- main characters, catches phrases,
and concepts. And Hasbro is basically redoing everything from just those few
elements of the previous versions of the toys. So I'm just saying, if Jem is
on her way back, more then like it won't be the same -- and some elements
well be completely different.

But we won't know, unless something new comes out. Guess I'm saying be
prepared for it to be changed, and we might not like all the changes. :)

I loved Jem because of the more grown up feel- I watched the show originally and
like Punky Brewster, among other shows, it did deal with dicey topics, but that
was what was good about it. Jerrica showed us a strong, confidant woman who had
her education, degree etc ready and was trying to make it in the business world.

As for boycotting a Jem movie, I'd only do that if it was horrid- my problems
with G.I.Joe is that they (Hollywood) changed too many of the inter-character
relationships. In the cartoon, Duke and Scarlett are together, in the comics-
its Scarlett and Storm Shadow- in both the cartoon and comics, the Baroness and
Destro are together (like Pizazz and Eric Raymond)- but in the movie, the
Baroness was Duke's ex who was forced into Cobra (too many spoilers to go on
here- you can email me if you want my whole rendition/impression).

So that's why I was so worked up and upset about Hollywood and Jem- if the big
wigs decided to rake the Jem story over the coals in hopes of making bigger
bucks- i.e. changing plot lines, character relationships etc. That was my big
worry and beef.

I never saw Transformers and don't really care much for the show. -Omar

worrying about her relationship with Rio either. She had the girls to look
after, a business to run...stuff that any adult has to worry about in normal
life.

The videos I linked to looks closer to what Jem could be today, music wise and
video wise. I'm using her videos to say it could be done.

Hasbro/Hollywood/powers that be want are going to be two different things. As
far as Transformers are concerned, I was just glad they got rid of the "hunting
for food" aspect and concentrated on the struggles of two belief systems. I
didn't watch the G.I. Joe movie in the theaters because I was preparing for my
costume shows, but I'll catch that later. I'm sure that since these were boy
shows, I'm not going to be able to catch all the changes that were made.
Regardless what we feel like, there are probably going to be a lot of people
calling the Jem movie a travesty.

The "outrageous" part was more of Kimber's catchphrase. I don't see anything
about Jem being "outrageous" or extreme. The only good examples of extreme is
the Misfits.

Roisin Murphy has the great 80s like clothing while retaining the sweet
demeanor. This is why I say she's like Jerrica if she performed as herself, if
she had the confidence to do it.

i was thinking I was being misunderstood.

I think it's hard to talk about adult themes and adult content. The line
the separates them, and can't really say specific about adult content with
taking the topic to a PG rating.

I would agree with business aspect, taking care of the kids, etc. I don't
think she could even be an active board member of Starlight Music without
being at least 18, or older.

Roisin Murphy stand out, she's slightly outrageous -- but in comparison the
hair color and make-up in 1985-1988, she's not that outrageous. Especially
as far as a new look, I think Hasbro would have to look at Lady Gaga, Kylie,
newer Madonna -- and thing of something that would stand out above and
beyond any of them to be Truly Outrageous.

I think I was misunderstood. I do understand that it can be innocent while
having adult themes. The cartoon proved that. There are enough ways to bring
about problems that adults would have without going through the typical
Hollywood scenes of watching the whole affair. And it wasn't just Jerrica/Jem
worrying about her relationship with Rio either. She had the girls to look
after, a business to run...stuff that any adult has to worry about in normal
life.

Jem would never work out as a teen with these problems. I had always figured
Jerrica to be at least 25 when the show started. I would figure that she
already has college under her belt, but none of the experience in how to deal
with businesses and corporate takeovers, which is what Eric did to her.

But using a cleaned up version of Lady Gaga is not what I had in mind for Jem.
The videos I linked to looks closer to what Jem could be today, music wise and
video wise. I'm using her videos to say it could be done.

Unfortunately, what we, the fans, hope for in a Jem movie and what
Hasbro/Hollywood/powers that be want are going to be two different things. As
far as Transformers are concerned, I was just glad they got rid of the "hunting
for food" aspect and concentrated on the struggles of two belief systems. I
didn't watch the G.I.

There are already people boycotting a Jem movie that hasn't been made yet in the
art community. Goes to show how people feel about any remake.

I would agree that Jem felt adult, Jerrica was basically 10 years older
then me. I guess it has good balance act by having the adult(ish) themes but
playing it to pre-teens audience. Which is what kids, I think especially
girls, that age want. It seems like kids always look for someone to look up
too -- older siblings, older cousins, even G.I. Joe has to be 18 years old or
older. Or maybe that has changed.

So I hope a new Jem would do that -- and I don't think Jem would have
worked as well if she was 14 and was pretending to be Jem, while Eric Raymond
was her god parent.

When I say adult themes, I specifically talking about lyrics and videos
that are PG-13 or even could be pushing R as far as content, language, and
ideas. Of course Jem said "Making Love to a Fantasy" which is pretty adult,
but it's in reference to kissing -- really not anything more then that.

I'm also hoping with Hasbro taking over the scripts adult jokes like the
ones in Transformers will no longer be seen in the movies. People didn't like
a lot of things about Transformers, but I think that was the worse -- at
the end of the day it's tied to a child's toy, so adult content to get
laughs is not really appropriate. And it's not like any of that moved the story
or would have ruined the movie if it wasn't included.

I thought Jem was adult in its own way when I was a teen. There were a lot of
issues that were touched on that wasn't done with a kids show.

And, if anyone wants to see Jerrica dressing like Jem and singing, check out
this singer. I love her and this is what I thought when I first watched her
videos.

Roisin Murphy - "Let Me Know"

(this one is my favorite!)

I just hope that never comes to fruition. Jem is light years superior to and
ahead of HM. -Omar
