Serving Dade Broward Counties in Florida. We all know that "landfill" is just a nice word for Garbage Dump. In the old days people were allowed to sort through the stuff for treasure that others had thrown away. Today's landfills don't allow anyone to go "dumpster diving" or "garbage picking". All those wonderful things are lost to the evergrowing pile that covers acres of land and reaches to the sky. The garbage decays and seeps into the ground water or it becomes methane gas. Torch flames burn the gas to keep it from exploding and to keep the stench from overpowering sensitive noses.

There is another way. Items that aren't useful to you are useful to others. In fact, some things are Necessary to others and even other things are Cherished. With this easy-to-use list, you can give away items you don't want. You can ask for items you need. At our frequent get-togethers, you can meet the people who are on the list and you can exchange unwanted items that clutter your house but can mean so much to someone else.

How is this different from FreeCycle (tm) or FreeSource (tm), you ask? Hopefully, this list will take recycling a step further. We encourage a Transport Ring to move things from the original location to a spot that is closer to the taker... Why? To save gas!!! Plain and simple. If we have members who live in one area, work in another and don't mind taking things along, we all win. We encourage you to participate in the Transport Ring.

This list is also different because your post will appear almost as soon as Yahoo processes it. Gone are the days of posting an important, time-sensitive post and not seeing it for several days.
