Denny,
Glad you liked it.
I'm looking forward to the video of your house when you do it.  Will be fun to see.
You've become quite a celebrity!  Will you still deal with us minions when you're rich and famous??  Ha!

Hope all is well,
Bob McDonald

Awesome Bob !   My son Bobby likes to play that song on Guitar Hero.  That's an awesome video.  I will share it around with my Christmas Lights buddies ..

Things are heating up here at the house.  The crowds are getting larger.  Several local TV stations already have reports on my house.  The local newspaper was here for two nights and they are writing an article sometime in the next couple days.  Their video guy is also writing web report with videos, etc to show the house.  It's getting fun !  I will share some links.  I will also have some full videos of my house in action but it will take a while.  Since I have a lot of trees, it's going to take several angles to make a good video.  It all has to be mixed and blended and re-synchronized to the music .. then they will be ready for the web.  I had a couple buddies who tried with their small cameras and it doesn't work.  The little cameras go in and out of focus a lot.  I will keep everyone posted when I have something.

New stand added to the collection

I just finished up the artwork and decals for the 1958 Evinrude V4 stands over the weekend.  I assembled the first one last night!  I think these will be "correct" for the 1958 and 1959 Fat Fifties, but will work with all of the Evinrude V4s.

I now have this, as well as pretty much all of my stands currently in stock.  I have uploaded the current catalog to my Chinewalker's Stuff files page...

Regards,
- Scott

The James Bond boat would be a fantastic idea.  I have never seen one (RC or otherwise) ..  but seems like they would have made models of them back when the movie was hot ...

Thanks,

Denny

Hi Denny,
I guess in this case the U.S. Mail was actually FASTER than e-mail! I received the boat yesterday morning!
The boat is in good shape, nothing broken or split. It is definitely used, but not abused. The power switch, wiring, speed control, receiver, antenna, etc. have been removed. I am thinking of detailing the boat as a Glastron GT-150, c. 1970s, and maybe fabricating an Evinrude 135 cowling for the motor to do up a James Bond "Live and Let Die" boat. It's definitely back-burner at the moment, though, as I was lucky to have the extra cash in hand to get this when it came up. In the meantime, it'll just sit above my bench looking cool...

That would look great!  Can you make up a cowling that would fit the Robbe or another motor?

This is great info John.  I am curious if you have any suggestions for more modern ABS.  I have a prop blade to glue back onto a plastic motor.  The prop is black ABS and was made roughly 2000 or 2001.  Is there a particular glue that works ?  I am not trying to use the motor, but rather want to have a fairly clean looking display motor.  So the glue does not have to be ultra-strong.  I just want it to be able to hold the blade onto the hug without having a lot of it showing.  The most that would happen is occasionally running the motor on a stand, but I can also avoid that if necessary ..

Thanks,

Denny Cole

I'll be glad too help in anyway I can. I usually just lurk on this forum. But I do collect the outboards and I worked for Robbe USA for a number of years. I have several Princess and Seahorse boats, the Seahorse (molded in white) was brought out when the Princess was discontinued. The power set for the Seahorse included the Roqua, a mech. speed control, and the 7.2 nicad battery. I have been doing r/c for almost 60 years.

The best glue to use on any of the Robbe models is Stabaliz Express, most other epoxies will not bond. You can also use any CA glue. The ABS plastic that Robbe uses is their own formula called “Plura”. Regular epoxies do not bond to any ABS they will break loss after a time, one method that I have used is to glue with the epoxy then after a week or two, is popit and run some thin CA to glue the epoxy to the ABS.

Hi John,
Thanks for offering to help.  I'm sure Scott would appreciate all the help he can get to have it up and running.
I just visited your web site again and it's just terrific!  I really love all the boats and cars on it.  You have quite a collection.

Hope all is well,
Bob McDonald

The best glue to use on any of the Robbe models is Stabaliz Express, most other epoxies will not bond. You can also use any CA glue. The ABS plastic that Robbe uses is their own formula called "Plura". Regular epoxies do not bond to any ABS they will break loss after a time, one method that I have used is to glue with the epoxy then after a week or two, is popit and run some thin CA to glue the epoxy to the ABS.

Scott,
Congratulations!  I was looking at that one myself but passed because I already have one.  It was very tempting, though, at that price.
Good luck with it!

Hope all is well,
Bob McDonald

Hi Scott,

Great buy!  The Roqua motors have been bringing that by
themselves lately.  I've found that most builders of the Prinzess kits either did not bother to remove the wax from
the plastic before gluing in the servo tray and other wood parts, or they used the wrong type of glue.  If your allergy
allows you to use Goop, it will bind very well to lightly
sanded abs plastic and is recommended for most vacuum
formed kits.

You will be able to run the boat with cheap nicad car battery
packs and look to Tower Hobbies for a  $49 am radio
transmitter and reciever--they work very well.  I probably have 3 or four brushed motor speed controllers laying around
in disuse since I am not installing any brushed motors
in my stuff anymore.  Give me a yell when you are ready and I will donate one.

Have Fun!

Richard
