Please note that Touro will be offering a set of seminars which are
required by New York State. You must attend these at some point in order to
be certified. Please see below for more information.

These seminars will be held at the Touro building at 1602 Ave. J in
Brooklyn, 1st floor, on Sunday, April 25. You do not need to register
beforehand. You may take any or all of these. These are free, as long as
you are a currently-regsitered Touro student.

The seminars are scheduled as follows:

10 am - 12 noon. Child abuse & maltreatment.

12 - 2 pm. Drug and alcohol abuse.

2:30 - 4:30 pm. School violence prevention & intervention.

4:30 - 6:30 pm. Child safety education, prevention of child abduction, and
fire and arson protection.

	 School Psychology Internship opening (PIT Program)

I have just received a list of the criteria which the PIT program looks for
in candidates.

1. Spanish bilingual students who are participants in the New York City
Department of Education's Bilingual Scholarship Program;

2. Non-scholarship Spanish bilingual students;

3. Bilingual students in languages other than Spanish;

4. African-American students;

5. Other monolingual students with a background and demonstrated experience
in working with a culturally diverse population.

Please note that Spanish bilingual candidates remain the program's
recruitment priority. The acceptance of all candidates is contingent upon
availability of funding and number of allocated internship positions.

All bilingual candidates will be required to prove language proficiency
either by receiving a passing score on the DOE's Language Proficiency Exam
or on the State's ELPA-N and TLPA in order to be considered for acceptance
to the PIT Program.

Hi. We are writing to let you know about an excellent way, at Touro's
website, to access the Touro College library, which includes journal,
periodical, and online articles. Included are some of the articles used in
our courses. We hope to use this to save future photocopying expenses, and
labor.

The articles can be accessed at the following site:

If you are asked to log in, the USERNAME is "touro". The PASSWORD is
"midtown".

At this website, you will see an alphabetical list. Scroll through it until
you get to Proquest. This is a major resource; click on it, and you will
see a search form. Use the pull-down menus to the right of each search box
to indicate the type of text you are searching for.

For example, searching for "Terr" as the Author, and "Childhood traumas" as
the Citation and Article Text, brings up four hits, the last of which is an
article relating to one of our courses. So this can be very useful.

By the way, at the bottom of this email is details on how to find this page
by starting at our main website.

We hope to use this resource in the future to allow students to access
articles and do research more easily. Please feel free to look at this
feature and let us know any comments. Thanks.

click on "Virtual Library."

You will see a table listing many topic areas.  In the Social Sciences box
in the lower right corner, click on "Psychology," in bold.

You will see a list of subcategories within psychology. Click on the top
line, "general psychology."  You will be at the same page as described
above, which contains ProQuest.

Please feel free to explore the other subcategories, as they all have good
