Re: [Tithing-Study] Re: tithing by Dr Charles Stanley

If he taught accurately on the Christian's money and what God does call for in a Christian's financial obedience (personal responsibilities first and no debt - 1 Tim 5:8 and Rom 13:8), I would have been shocked.

While each individual will account to God for his/her teaching (they are representing Him - His will and ways) the ones just as culpable in this matter are the ones in the pews. When James said, "Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, knowing that as such we shall incur a stricter judgment" (James 3:1) this command is directed at the group of believers. He is commanding them not to allow - make - many teachers among themselves because as they do this, they are placing that teacher in a place of "greater judgment."

The people in front of Charles Stanley, and all like him, have made a lot of decisions for which they will account. For starters, they have set up (and/or propagate) a system - where they are "laymen" and engaged in "secular work." These designations are lies.

Next, they have bought into a system of academic credentials and/or extra biblical ordination rites and rituals that supposedly qualify "called ones" to be "in the ministry" - and as such are usually then qualified for pay. And the more appositions, the greater the man. All of this another set of falsehoods. All Christians are "called"-  all are "in the ministry" from the moment of salvation until exit (as well as eternity), and all have been placed in "the royal priesthood" at salvation (1Pet 2:5 and 9). The blood of Jesus purchased these positions and callings for each of His children. If we allow anyone to strip these jewels from us - we are sinning. "Laymen" in "secular work"? This is directly from the pit.

Our hope is that God uses us to rescue our brethren/fellow priests from such darkness. We want them using their cash in ways that truly does please God - and that cash will then be a tool in true Kingdom expansion. But, if pew sitters don't want to listen, well, the "victim card" just isn't going to prevail when they stand before the King.

So, if Charles, and company, get 100% of their cash - well, I am not going to lose any sleep. They are choosing this clergy/lay religious system. No one forces them to "submit." Many of them want to be told what to do and what to believe. That is easy. So, I hope Charles, and his, go for more.

By the way, if one has been taught by God on some matter (say like the true tithe of God and it not applying to the Christian), and then is walking in that, there is freedom in truth. Bitterness - while being free from error? Not here, brethren. Not here.

I watched about 40 minutes of this drivel, then I stopped. If I was still ignorant of true biblical tithing, I might have considered this a good sermon. Now that I know the truth, the sermon was a bunch of swill.

These corrupt/ignorant, money-motivated, Sunday paycheck preachers portray God to be some kind of slot machine, that if you give God x amount of money, then he will return it to you in a greater amount than you gave. They talk about all the wonderful testimonies they received from so-called "faithful" tithers, but they ignore those who have tithed for 10, 20, 30+ years but are still one paycheck away from eviction or a soup kitchen.

These clowns in the pulpit ought to be ashamed of themselves.
