Whereas Therion-Babalon Oasis has been subsumed withing the newly
chartered Blazing Star Oasis, I have turned off all future repeating
event announcements on this list.  If you're still subscribed here,
please move along to the BlazingStar-OTO Yahoo Group instead.

Accordingly, please ignore the recent announcement of a Business
Meeting for the former body.  That meeting has been mooted by the
merger of Therion-Babalon Oasis with Mons Abiegnus Oasis and Thelema
Lodge under the banner of Blazing Star, as approved by the Electoral
College of U.S. Grand Lodge earlier this month and previously
announced in this space.

Until we have had a chance to transition all of the sundry Thelemic
"rituals of the elements and feasts of the times" along with
significant astronomical events and Greater and Lesser Feasts of
Gnostic Saints and other luminaries to the Blazing Star calendar,
those notices will continue to run here.

If you are not sure how to get on the Blazing Star list, please
contact me, or Blazing Star Oasis Master Marlene directly.  To control

engaging the considerable experience and knowledge of three long-time

+++ Introductions +++
- The Symposium will begin with the panelists introducing themselves
by way of biographical and/or editorial commentary explaining their
perspective on Thelema and how they came to embrace it.

+++ Three Questions +++
- After the introduction, each panelist will answer the following
three questions. They have had time to prepare answers to these
questions and they may, at their option, discuss each others' answers
during this portion of the Symposium. The questions are:

1. Crowley described Thelema as a solar-phallic religion. To some,
this sounds like another way of saying "patriarchy." In what ways do
you find solar-phallicism to be inclusive of women?

2. In his _New Comment_ Crowley writes, "Every fight is to be a fight
to the finish; each one of us for himself, to do his own will; and all
of us for all, to establish the Law of Liberty." In his recruitment
drive for O.T.O., he recommends that we contact the Order to organize
the fight for Liberty. In _Liber Aleph_, he notes that we "must by Law
assure to every Man a Means of ... protecting him from any that may
seek to deprive him of these vertebral Rights." How do you see the
Order serving the cause of Thelema in this vein?

3. Our community has a long and honored tradition of being skeptical
towards fundamentalism, and we have long heard about the problems of
fundamentalism in Thelema. Can you see any aspects of it that might be
beneficial to our work? What is your overall perspective on "Thelemic
fundamentalism?"

- Following the "prepared answer" section, the audience will have an
opportunity to pose questions to the panelists.

Finally, the Symposium will dissolve into a wine and hors d'oeuvres reception.

Dear Illustrious Dame Knight and Oasis Master,

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

As Secretary of the former body, and as a potential officer of the new
one, might I request that you hold off on actually effecting the
deletion of this group or the associated Members group?

The reason is that there is a fair amount of possibly relevant data -
not least in the calendar and Documents directory - that we will want
to carefully archive somewhere for historical purposes, including the
migration of forward-looking calendar data to the Blazing Star
calendar.  We should discuss archival strategies as your convenience,
since you are personally one of the de facto archivists of Bay Area
O.T.O. history, and thus the most likely recipient of anything that
needs to be stored off-line.

pleased and excited to announce the formation of Blazing Star Oasis.
The masters of three Bay Area local bodies: Thelema Lodge, Mons
Abiegnus Oasis and Therion-Babalon Oasis have petitioned the
Electoral College to unify these bodies into a single oasis. This has
been done in order to combine our resources and to initiate a new
renaissance of Thelema within the region. Thankfully, the Electoral
College has accepted our petition! Sister Marlene Cornelius will be
master of the new oasis, and we look forward to great things to come.
It is our hope that the histories and unique flavors of these three
bodies can be united to form a new and more vital egregore that will
enable us to better serve the Order and to spread the Word of the Law.
