A Room where Sri Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi's "Forty Verses on Reality" —and other poems— are studied. Also known as "Forty Verses on Existence", the poem and title is extremely difficult to translate into English.

In Tamil the poem is called "Ulladu Narpadu". 'Ulladu' is from 'uLLam' which has a host of meanings. 'That which is', 'Deep inside', 'Deep Within', 'Truth', 'Heart', The Very Core of Existence.

Robert Butler has written a commentary of the poem along with an analysis of the language used in Tamil; by explaining the content he has also used the poem as a means by which a knowledge of literary Tamil can be acquired. It's hoped that devotees with a knowledge of Classical Tamil will be able to study Rob's work, and he is happy to receive any suggestions on the work in progress. Questions and comments are very welcome, and this list now contains experts and beginners alike.

This is a group where study and hard work will yield rich rewards, by the Grace of Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi. May it also increase manifold the devotion of sadhakas and all those who aspire after Truth.
