Mocha Sistah is a Chicago freelance writer, poet, and teaching artist who believes in uplifting people and empowering youth. She has penned hundreds of poems, been featured at several venues throughout the country, and the author of Musings of a Mocha Sista: A Different Flava of Mocha, A Love Story, Musings of a Mocha Sistah: The SoulKiss and other publications. Her poetry has recently been featured on the poetry section of Black Romance and Bronze Thrills Magazines. Mocha Sistah's work as a teaching artist was honored last year by the Poetry Center of Chicago's 2004 Gwendolyn Brooks Poetry and Disilgold's 2004 Most Popular Female Poet of the Year Awards.

The Musings Report will feature exclusive excerpts of work in progress by Mocha Sistah. The Musings Report is an online newsletter that will feature the latest information in the literary world including book fair information, book contests, opportunities for Spoken Word Artists and Writers to network and publish their work online and through various venues (online websites, newspapers, literary e-zines, and traditional/non-traditional publishers). The Musings Report seeks to uplift, assist, and encourage aspiring, self-published and traditional writers.

Mocha Sistah invites you to explore her world as an artist, poet, and freelance writer by reading her developing stories and poems, giving her critical feedback, and taking advantage of postings of opportunities for writers and spoken word artists.
