Happy Fourth of July everyone!!

Last year we were able to watch fireworks from our back yard! One of the local
Carlsbad resorts (The Four Seasons) put on a spectacular fireworks display and
we were stunned to be able to see it so well! Hope they do it again this year,
but with budgets tighter than ever who knows!

Brian and I just got home from Nashville and the HLAA convention. We had a ton
of fun, gathered a lot of information to share with the group. We flew to New
York City afterwards for 10 days and I still have jet lag.....if anyone knows a
cure, clue me in!!

Our next general meeting is August 1st from 10:00 am to 12:00 at the Dove
Library in Carlsbad. We meet in the "Gowland" Meeting room outside and to the
right of the main library entrance.

We are very happy to say that CTAP is sending Roberta Smith out to give a
presentation on how to use Sprint Web CapTel. This should be very interesting!!
Most of us know that CTAP is the "California Telephone Access Program" and they
handle all the special needs (that would be US!) users of phones and assistive
devices in California. We are all entitled to special phones and assistive
technology at no cost to us. Everyone in California pays this little tax and
has for years. The fund goes to CTAP to support the deaf and hearing impaired.
If you are interested in getting a better phone or a neckloop or any other
assistive device....come and find out what to do!!

CTAP is providing CART services for us and I was surprised that they actually
took care of getting CART set up ( they called the library to see what services
they had available!)and Brian and I didn't have to make these arrangements!

As always, refreshment will be served, and some of us will probably want to go
to the Broken Yolk for lunch afterwards.

It's going to be a great presentation and hope to see you there!!

Deb & Brian
