TerrysTexasRangers is a discussion group set up to facilitate the sharing of information about the 8th Texas Cavalry Regiment, better known as Terry's Texas Rangers. Named for their first Commander, Benjamin Franklin Terry, Terry's Rangers were one of the most notable cavalry regiments to have served in the Confederate Cavalry during the War Between the States, 1861-1865. They served East of the Mississippi under such notable leaders as Forrest, Wharton, Harrison, and Wheeler. They were a charging regiment and universally recognized for their skill and willingness to fight. They are an important part of both Texas and American history. (Note: Terry's Rangers should not be confused with the Texas Rangers of the Frontier and Law Enforcement traditions, Terry's Rangers were a Civil War Confederate Cavalry regiment.)
