In our century, a theatre that does not pursue a spiritual existence and ideas, and does not convey more-than-life, is not truly topical. One does not go to the theatre to see and hear life.

If so, then what? Probably the essences of life, what exists beyond forms, gestures, movements, or words, namely ideas, feelings, passions, tempers, destinies, contradictions, desires. One does not go to the theatre to get a feeling of life – that feeling may be experienced in the street, in everyday life; one goes to the theatre to discover what lies beyond that feeling, beyond life, beyond the perceptible mechanisms of life.

Teatrul-metafora nu spune: aceasta e viata, ci aceasta e mai-mult-decit-viata, iar spectacolul nu e obligat sa compare cu un model, ci sa mediteze, sa treaca dincolo de perceptiune, sa dea el insusi o noua materie esentelor vietii. Teatrul-metafora incarca mintile, incordeaza constiintele, ofera ecuatii umane si nu simple echivalente.

In multitudinea culturala si realitatea orasului Toronto, Teatrul ca Metaforă si colaboratorii sai doresc sa-si aduca modesta contributie, alaturindu-se grupului de artisti, entuziasti romani si canadieni care ajuta la propagarea si dezvoltarea culturii românesti.
