Hi again. Kourtney from the Itasca Fire Department is scheduling us for Saturday, February 26th at 9:00 AM until 1:00. I also found out the following:
1) we can pay the day of the class $30 per person
2) We will get certification cards
3) The First Aid is recognized by hospitals but not the CPR. The CPR class for hospital personnel is more involved.
If anybody wants first aid only, I can see if she can possibly do that. You would do the First Aid portion of the class and leave before the CPR part. The cost for First aid only is $25 and is 2 hours. For only $5 you may as well take the CPR too.
We currently have 18 people interested. Let me know if you need to drop off the list. More people can still be added but if we have over 20 then she will need a second instructor. If anybody cannot make this day we can schedule a second class, there is a minimum of only 3 people for a class.
The motivation behind doing this class with everybody is when last year we started talking about certifying one or two people to have the rank of Medical Steward, and they would be in charge of the first aid kit. I thought it would make more sense to certify everybody since the chance that the steward will not be around when needed is very high.

Hi there Steve. I did receive your call yesterday but was on duty and did not get an opportunity to call. The answers to your questions are as follows: Yes, I am available to teach the class on Saturday Feb 26th. I have to get the back room at the FD approved though in case some else has already reserved it. I would not be able to start the class until 9 am since I will just be getting off shift then. Class will run at the most 4 hours. 18 people is ok. If it goes over 20, I'll need an additional instructor to help me. Yes, you do get certified. You will receive course completion CPR/ First aid cards. I usually have them completed after the class day due to some people not showing up or extras coming in. I use the class roster to make sure names are spelled correctly for their cards. Paying can be done 1 of 2 ways. I can either collect from everyone that morning, or I can have our Secretary produce an invoice and forward it to you. In regards to the hospital question, yes the hospital recognizes first aid but the CPR is different. You all will be attending a class for basic lay persons. If someone is employed by a hospital/ Dr's office, they need a healthcare provider CPR class. Some of the content is more advanced. If you talk with that person frequently, I do have a healthcare CPR class coming up in a couple weeks. It's at the FD at 9:30 am on Sat Jan 22. She could always attend that and then come in with you guys in Feb and leave after first aid is done. Just tell her if interested to give me a call.
I think that is everything. Let me know if you want to go ahead and schedule this and get some of the details finalized. I will check on the room availability next time I am in the Station. Thanks again for the interest!!!

I wish I could take credit for the first aid class,
but it is all Steve T. doing and the folks at the fire
station. Last time I took the courses I received a
card to Carry in my wallet that said I was certified.

Congratulations on a well-written article. It was very generous of you to share authorship with Mr. Vernon, even though we all know you wrote the piece.
Once again, an excellent job and a credit to the battery!
I received a copy of the magazine this afternoon. Looks good I do have to say so. Nancy read it and all she could find was one word she thought was not really a word. But besides that I think she was as impressed as a wife gets about something like this. I did also notice that in the listing of my resources they cut off the list and don't pick it up again. Oh well, that would be an editing issue and not the writer. Well, on to the next article hopefully to be completed soon. Thanks to all who helped proof read and gave support.

Hmm...now we need to figure out how to push him out....
Hi everyone!
Thanks for including me in this Yahoo Group, even though I am
presently living in Biglerville, PA. Don't worry, though, because I
have plans to move back to Illinois within the next one-two years.
So, do you think you might be interested in having me back as a
member?
Also, I'll be back in good old Glen Ellyn December 18 - 26, if any
of you want to hang out sometime! :)
Take care, and I promise to keep in better touch . . . starting now!
I miss you all!

P.S. If any of you are wondering what I've been up to for all this
time, just send me an email or something. I'm fairly easy to get in
touch with. :)
Trying to get everyone in the virtual yahoo group
TaylorsBatB@yahoogroups.com
it will make it easier to do reminders like the work
party at Mikes this weekend and to give everyone quick
postings like the By Laws and after action report that
are already on the page. Also if you have someone
elses Email from Taylors that I do not have, please
forward this to them and have them go to the above
site. It is free and anyone can join. My hope is that
it will cut down on the cost of mailings and will
speed up the transfer of information and discussions
in the club.
Thanks
Jason Davids
The poll was my first try at using the program. It was
the first thing that came to my mind. Also if you go
to the groups home page you can see some of the
pictures that I took at the live shoot this summer.
Thanks
JAson
Thanks to Jason for taking the bull (oxen) by the horns and starting
this group!! I think it will prove invaluable in our future.
Your obedient servant,
Mike
Enter your vote today! A new poll has been created for the
TaylorsBatB group:
How many members are in favor of trying
to campaign at least two events next
year. Ie. sleep on the field under the
gun and leave the tents behind and
carry all your gear on your back for
the weekend or in period containers.
o In favor of trying two events
o I would my tent and MTV
o I would try it once
o I would like to do it more than once
