Thanks, but I do have a Smith-Corona Silent Super too, although, from 1955 and
the SN is in the same location. The Secretarial is completely different from it
and it is a desktop not a portable. Again thanks nonetheless!

FWIW, I have a 1939 Super-Speed with the serial number on a non-riveted plate in the exact location you describe. It's way toward the back. It was well-hidden...

Ah ha! I found it, under the carriage when moved to the left and riveted (facing upward, right at me) and completely clean... I was just being a dumb-dumb...
