Transition Towns initiatives are a proactive, community-based response to the twin crises of climate change (global warming) and peak oil (the end of cheap oil). Founded by Rob Hopkins of the UK, the Transition Towns movement is "going viral" worldwide. Here at TTLA we compare notes and support each other as we discuss what we're doing with the Transition Towns movement in our local geographies. Through this virtual community we can communicate directly with each other about what works, doesn't work, challenges, and successes in getting this movement going here in Southern California.

The name TTLA is from Transition "Town" Los Angeles (the "town" part being a bit of sarcasm). There is now a City Hub for Transition activities in the LA area, and local groups are active/forming in several local neighborhoods. Some of these groups are official Transition Initiatives with the international Transition Network.
