This list focuses on obtaining health care from the Veterans Administration for those of us who are, or were, transsexual or intersexed (aka Disorders of Sexual Development). It is NOT a place to discuss or post articles about politics, religion, or activism. It is NOT a general discussion list, although brief mention of milestones, wins and losses in one's gender change journey are allowed.
****NOTE: Membership is limited to transsexual or intersexed/DSD veterans or current members of the U.S. armed forces plus a small selection of supportive medical practitioners. Again take note: If you apply for membership and say you are "transgender" you will be rejected, as "Transgender" can mean many things, other than "TS" or "IS" ...End of Text! ...Now if you want to join, email the list owner (billiejean_mt@yahoo.com) with a brief explanation of your service history and your transsexual or intersexual status.
Medical care may be available through the VA for transsexual/intersex needs if you know how to approach the issue.
VA policy states that Veterans are not to be treated soley on the basis that they are TS, but in many cases local hospitals and clinics justify it because other symptoms are present that are covered under current policy.
This list will help you to better understand the issues surrounding TS medical treatment at VA hospitals and clinics.
The members here are always willing assist you with their years of experience in dealing with the VA.
