Description

This group is a rig-specific list for the great line of Kenwood Amateur Radio transceivers, the TS-520, TS-820, TS-530 and TS-830. Discussion of the TS 510, 515, and the 599 series twins is also permitted. These radios are similar in that they are "hybrid" rigs (tubes and transistors) and they share many circuits (and a few problems). All are welcome and all questions are cool, no matter how basic or complicated they may seem.

Spamming the group is not allowed, but it's OK to share cool Ham-related links with the list. New members must be approved by the moderator. Attachments are not allowed to help prevent virii and trojans; if you want to share a file or pictures, log in to the group and upload them to the files or pictures section, or share them directly off-list. The other usual rules apply, no flaming, etc.

Thanks to AG4QP for an excellent home station pic!

We also have a group dedicated to Kenwood microphones:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/KenwoodMics/

Note: when applying, please fill out the "Note to group owner" text box and give your call sign id you are a Ham and tell us what kind of Kenwood gear you have. Including your Amateur Radio Callsign if you are an Amateur Radio Operator will expedite this process. This is so we can filter out the spammers. Thanks!
73!

Re: TS-820s Frequency Problem
A simple counter will do fine. I use a simple Victor VC2000 frequency counter. Simple, inexpensive, and does the job. No need to spend a lot of money on test

Re: VFO jumping on ts 830
The VFO power is provided by the 9VDC supply on the AF UNIT. The actual VFO's power source comes from the AF UNIT plug 5 pin 7. The 9VDC is routed from AF UNIT
