Description

Welcome to TJEd Mentors United in Support of Education (TJEd M.U.S.E.)

This group is open to all who are interested in applying the educational principles described in "A Thomas Jefferson Education" by Oliver DeMille. The purpose of this group is to support each other in the application of these principles in our own education and in that of our children by sharing our experiences. We who are on this path have a great deal to offer each other.

MUSE, (From Noah Webster's 1828 Dictionary & The New Oxford American Dictionary)
n, 1. Deep thought; close attention or contemplation. 2. A woman, or a force personified as a woman, who is the source of inspiration. 3. An instance or period of reflection.
v, 1. Be absorbed in thought 2. To ponder; to think closely; to study in silence. 3. To wonder. 4 To think on; to meditate on.

Topics appropriate for this group include (but are not limited to):
Thomas Jefferson Education, Leadership Education, Phases of Education (Core, Love of Learning, Scholar, Depth, Mission), Statesmanship, Public and Private Virtue, Liber, Georgics, 5 Pillar Certification, and how all of these can be applied to family life. Discussion of classic books and movies is also appropriate.

Members of any religious faith or political perspective are welcome. While sharing on political or religious topics you are welcome to speak from your particular belief system and point of view keeping in mind that our focus is leadership and how we can apply it. You are encouraged to practice the statesmanship skills of open-mindedness and diplomacy as you post, keeping in mind the words of Thomas Aquinas.

"We must love them both, those with whom we agree and those with whom we disagree. For both have labored in the search of truth, and both have helped us in the finding of it."

The ideas and experiences shared here are strictly those of the writer. Please keep your posts positive and helpful in order to continue in our group.
