Formally an independent organization, TG Nation voted on February 27, 2006 to become a project of Rising Action, a Freedom Activist Network. On the same date, TG Nation voted to sever its formal ties with all its chartered chapters so that each local organization, such as TGLI (Transgender Long Island) can decide for itself how best to serve the gender variant community in their own local area.

TG Nation, as a project of Rising Action, will fight for the repeal of all laws that interfere with or discriminate against people based on their gender identity or expression. TG Nation seeks to recruit "citizens" from throughout the world who support its cause, and are willing to stand up and fight, whether that be simply to become part of this group, or to take on a more active role opposing discriminatory legislation and societal pressure to conform to mainstream norms.
