Transportation Corps Aviation Association
On July 14, 1995, three retired Transportation Corps Army Aviators met, in Williamsburg, Virginia to discuss the idea of getting together with other locally-retired TC aviators for some periodic "hangar flying" sessions. From this initial meeting sprung the Transportation Corps Aviation Association.
The stated purpose of the TCAA is to permit those TC Aviators, and aviation maintenance officers, who served in TC Aviation units, and TC Aviation assignments during their active Army service to share in preserving the history and accomplishments of the TC Aviation Units and their personnel during World War II, the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts. To this end the TCAA will hold such luncheon meetings, conferences and reunions as may be desired by the membership.
This organization has now grown to over 275 members, located in 34 states and in two foreign countries. The monthly meetings are usually attended by approximately 35 to 40 members. Total flying time of all members exceeds 1,000,000 hours. There have been four reunions, during the annual Transportation Corps Regimental week, in July. At the last reunion there were 115 attendees, many from out-of-town. The TCAA has had an annual golf tournament on two occasions and plans two semi-annual meetings with spouses.
Their logo, designed by a spouse of a member, is a set of Army aviator wings with the Transportation Corps branch winged wheel on top of the wings. Current officers are:
President Emeritus, John Adie
President, Ted Cimral
Vice-President, Joe Leming
Secretary, Robert A. Price
Treasurer, Warren Joyce.
The TCAA motto is: "Still…….above the best."
Those interested in applying for membership may contact the secretary, Bob Price,at: 24 Marvin Drive, Newport News, VA 23608. Dues are $10.00, annually, or $75.00, Life membership.
