SPAN--A Group of Neighbors Who Care! Keep Sunset Park Affordable and Contextual Our diverse neighborhood offers mostly low to moderate income families an opportunity to live in a stable neighborhood. However, our neighborhood is also rapidly changing as high rents and a building boom displace residents from other areas of the city. While we agree with the need for housing, we feel that the new development that is in store for Sunset Park may be out of context and unaffordable to the people who currently call Sunset Park home. We are a diverse, dynamic intergenerational alliance of neighbors working together to create unity while strengthening our power as a community. What makes us special is the way we work--SPAN is a membership organization that makes decisions through consensus.
