"SULIGOWSKI'S REGIMENT", 1st U.S.Polish Winged Hussar
(Sobieski’s Command)
America’s First (and Largest) 17th Century Polish-Lithuanian Living History Group Dzięn Dobry Państwo!
Born in early 1998, and finding no 17th century Polish period representation anywhere in the U.S. at that time, we quickly established ourselves in mid-2000, at Renaissance festival and military timelines as The Polish Nobility Commonwealth Guild, and changed the name shortly thereafter. In addition, we’ve quickly been added to Polish cultural events, lectures, parades and other public cultural events from coast-to-coast. Today, we are recognized and acknowledged and awarded by dozens of American Polonia & Polish-American Organizations and syndicated newspapers, and known internationally and in the very heart of Poland itself, where we have been seen on Polish Satellite television & on our ‘Brother’ website ‘Winged Hussar’.
We made U.S. History in the 2002 NYC Pulaski Parade. In addition to all the years of previously awarded accolades and diplomas of Achievements & Recognitions from the many Polish-American Organizations across America, we have been additionally validated in the March 2008 RENAISSANCE MAGAZINE and have been the March 2008 ‘Featured Cover Story’ of TODAY’S VINTGE Magazine! Moreover, as of March 2008, we are now also the LARGEST 17th century period Living History/re-enactment group in the United States, with both American and International members around the world! It must be said, that ‘no other existing group of this kind in America, has accomplished as much for Polish Historic Awareness, or has been acknowledged for its accomplishments as Suligowski’s Regiment.
