We are an informal group of concerned residents in the Edgewater community of Chicago. Our focus is to stop the Friends of the Parks from destroying the existing lake shore in Edgewater. Our belief is that ANY landfill of lake MI done to satisfy the desires of the "FOTP" would ultimately change many Chicago tax payer's proximity and relationship to the lake shore. That situation would impact our real estate values negatively. There also is some concern that a landfill could impact the lake's fragile ecosystem.

The Chicago Park District, guided by the FOTP (Friends of the Park) has plans already drawn up that clearly show Lake Shore Drive immediately east of us. The extension of the Lake Shore Drive (US Highway 41) would be the engine used to finance any landfill whether there's mixed use or not and those Federal transportation dollars are the only source for funding of a project of this magnitude.
