Sadly enough steadily increasing numbers of pets (dogs especially) are being stolen from their families and never found. Oftentimes bunchers pick up many animals advertised as free from several homes. Owners unaware of this type are easily fooled and believe their pets are going to a good home. In reality, they are often quickly sold and passed on until they reach their chosen, brutal death. Massive National Corporations buy them for live medical testing. Nearly always the former loving pet is awake and receives no pain medication. They may spend weeks or months in this state until test completion. Puppymills buy to breed, Fighting rings to use them as training bait. They are taken from their own backyards, homes,and dog shows. Dogs get lost on family trips, dig out under backyard fences, or slip through a loose gate. Rescue dogs have been known to escape during transport. Too often a rescued dog reaches his destination via rescue relays only to become confused and scared of the new surroundings. It is NOT rare for them to bolt, leaving devastated families and rescuers with no "central" place to post for immediate help. All of the rescue lists are wonderful and I belong to many of them, but the posting, crossposting, & forwarding of these urgent messages take time to work through the basic group system setup. I believe we can minimize this greatly, thus creating a much better chance at recovery for our missing kids. Two way on topic crossposting is strongly encouraged. This list is intended for all stolen, lost, and found pets to be posted and used as a current, specific resource. We have grown to several hundred members that are widespread throughout all 50 states & Canada. We ARE making a difference and the successful results are being reported.
