milonga.  The poll closes tomorrow so if you have not voted yet, you still have
time. Based on the feedback,  it looks like you guys want a new milonga but I
have to work out the details.  I will keep you posted.

We think the answer really depends on the difficulty of the material in the
workshop, the size of the workshop, and the individual dancers's goals. For more
difficult material, it could be frustrating to rotate frequently, especially in 
a multi-level workshop. On the other hand,  by rotating, followers may learn how
to dance with leaders who have different styles. Couples who want to learn
together need to be allowed to do so, but in a relatively small community, like
ours, requiring that workshop be couples only, may exclude many dancers... So, a
gender balanced workshop with suggested, but not required partner, and a
specified level of material, seem to be most appropriate. We hope this helps,
and not confuses the issue.

The Early, Early Bird Discount to the Fifth Annual Chicago Mini Tango Festival

Dassieu, a great milonguero, at our Festival.  The instructors for the Chicago
Mini Tango Festival include Alberto Dassieu and Paulina Spinoso (Buenos Aires),
Gustavo Benzecry and Maria Olivera (Buenos Aires), and Oscar and Mary Ann Casas
(Buenos Aires/). Djs include Ramu Pyreddy (Washington, D.C.), Jorge Andrés
(Toronto), Lampis Zalavras (Los Angeles), Oleh Kovalchuke (Kansas City, Mo), and
Maria Olivera (Buenos Aires).

The four day festival held at the University of Chicago in the classic Hyde Park
section of Chicago includes the ability to select from over 20 workshops. 
There will also be seven milongas (including our Saturday Argentina night
milonga with wine, empanadas, and fantastic performances and our special Sunday
morning “Eye Opener milonga”).  There will also be a special chat session
on Sunday afternoon.

I am organizing workshops with a couple from Germany on January 9 and
10. They have asked if we would prefer designated partners or partner
rotation throughout the classes. Here in St Louis we have had workshops
in both forms. Which of the following would you prefer:

1   Bring your own partner, no rotation
2   Come on your own, frequent rotaton during workshop
3   A combination - easy material = rotation, challenging material =
designated partner
4   Write in your own idea in the comments

Hey St Louis,

I just wanted to let you all know that the performance this weekend is by Steve
Brachman and Myself.  I am coming out of my ballroom retirement (smile) and
doing a Waltz and Quickstep performance with one of my old colleagues.  I hope
that you will come out to dance some tango, enjoy some great music and
comaraderie for our last del Barrio of the year.  It will also be nice to share
a part of my old life with some of you.  I refer to this most often as my past
life!

If we do not see you Saturday have a lovely Christmas, Hanukkah or whatever it
is that you celebrate.  May it be filled with your loved ones and a spirit of
peace and joy.

Hey St Louis,

We have decided to cancel the practica at the Monday club this week (Dec 7th) as
there is a free practica that is being sponsored by Shaun and Berette and the
Hot Winter Tango Festival.  please go to their site for information.

The Convergence Holiday classes will begin this coming Wednesday (Dec 9th)and we
invite everyone to peruse the schedule at www.tangoteacher.com to see if there
is something that tempts them.  If a class is full or canceled we will post it
on the front page of the site.  Please do not wait til the last minute to let us
know which classes you wish to participate in because we would be sad to miss

Hot Winter Tango Festival

One of the most popular tango festivals returns to St Louis in December. 150+
dancers from all over North America will be participating.

While some events require festival passes, ALL Thursday and Monday events of the
festival are open to EVERYONE, and there is no need to pre-register. Just show
up! These will be great classes by nationally known teachers.

-Thursday dec 3, Adam Hoopengarder & Ciko Tanik from NYC will teach two classes,
followed by a milonga.

-Monday dec 7, Homer & Cristina Ladas from SF will teach 2 classes followed by a
free practica.
