SpotSociety has been created as a venue to unite pet rescuers in the metro Atlanta area. SPOT (or Stopping Pet Over-population Together)www.spotsociety.org is an alliance of dog and cat rescuers, veterinarians and pet lovers that has been formed in Atlanta with one goal in mind --- to reduce the number of dogs and cats that are killed in Atlanta area animal shelters. SPOT works on reaching it's goal through spay/neuter financial assistance programs, educational programs about spay/neuter and responsible pet guardianship and the Pet Orphans adoption website,and uniting the rescue/animal control community.
The rules here are pretty simple - be respectful! If we are respectful of each other and what we are trying to accomplish, we should have no problems. NEVER EVER use this forum to admonish or embarrass a fellow member! We are a list that concentrates on the Atlanta Metro Area, however in these times, those lines are very blurry. We will not smack your hand for posting something close enough that we can help with. In other words, N GA, S GA, Chattanooga, etc. are all welcome. We will never lose sight of why we are here - to save the lives of animals. You are also free to post about other animals that need help in shelters such as pet rodents,pet birds,farm animals and wildlife. We also will allow the posting of some national animal welfare issues . Postings pertaining to transport or anything that will assist rescuers in their work are welcome. Please, by all means post updates of animals that have gone through our rescue system. As rescuers, our job can bring a heavy heart at times. We need to hear the good things as well. However please refrain from posting breeder recommendations,promoting dog or cats shows, pro-breeding post, poems, jokes and religious references. If you have any doubts about something you want to post - simply email it to the moderator first.
