Description

This group is to discuss the use of ethical magic(k) and Pagan prayer to affect the political process in the USA, as based on the writings of Isaac Bonewits, especially his "Spells for Democracy" page at his website ("www.neopagan.net"). Discussions should focus on specific magical strategies, tactics, (& logistics?) to produce observable results that will move our nation closer to its ideals and away from either a Christian theocracy or a robber baron empire. The policy of this discussion group is that it *can* be ethical to perform magic/invoke Divine energies upon people without their permission, and that it is *unethical* for Pagans and magical people to sit on their hands doing nothing when the wealthy and powerful control all other means of fighting for freedom. People joining with an intent to disrupt or denounce this process will be warned once, then banned.

The main slant of this group is liberal/left since the current threats to democracy in the USA come from the conservative/right part of the political spectrum. Moderates of all political parties are welcome to join and participate, however, defenders of the Bush crime family, the neo-cons, or the theo-cons are not.

Occasional posting of links to mundane political action alerts are appropriate since many of us believe in working on multiple planes. General political discussion, even about the "bad guys," belongs on other lists regardless of how much we might agree with them.

Rudeness, hostility, paranoia, or back and forth nasty postings will get the participants booted. If one cannot be civil, even in disagreement, then one doesn't belong here.

Note to new subscribers: if you use "Spam Cop" or other antispam software, you may not receive Yahoo! Groups mailings. Please put each list you receive ("listname@yahoogroups.com") on your "white list" or add it to your email program's address book. If you use msn.com or hotmail.com, please add each list to your "Allowed Sender" list.
