A Nawtherner's Guide to this Site

This site is about the South and being Southern. That's something that folks who aren't from around here don't understand. They can't comprehend why we always seem to be still fighting THAT war. Hey, the only thing that Lee surrendered at Appamottox was the Army of Northern Virginia. The Confederate government never closed its doors--it was subjugated and occupied. We're deeply proud of our Confederate heritage down here and refuse to be reconstructed by Yankee brainwashing and lies. And don't go stickin' the racist tag on us! The black men who fought in our ranks were't segregated like they were in Northern units. Think about that for a moment. Slavery was not what Southerners were fighting for. They fought because they were invaded. You would would too if 75,000 heathans came marching into your backyard. And don't give us that crap about our having fired the first shot. Hey, picture this! You've got a fortress in your front yard that is manned by and about to be resupplied by your worst enemy, effectively cutting you off from the rest of the world. What would YOU do?

But all that said and done, we're pretty likeable folks once ya get to know us, and you can do just that on this forum. Just don't go tryin' to tell us how ya did it back up there in Michigan or wherever else it was you came from. If you don't like the way we do things down here, well.... Delta is ready when you are. Take the hint and take the flight. Nobody's gonna hold it against ya. Otherwise, pull yourself a little closer to the computer, pop the top on a cold one, and click to join us in some lively discussions. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
