Description

Homebrew club, in Pinellas county Florida, All are welcome to join.

This group is dedicated to brewing fresh and exciting beers, wines, and meads. We discuss beer recipes, How-to's, and beer equipment setup and make brewing projects. We will also blog our brewing days on http://sisterfreddybrewclub.blogspot.com.

In keeping with some of Germany's many brewing traditions we follow 2 main ones, the first is the "Der Sternewirth": A German Tradition.

In keeping with true German gemutlickheit, the typical brewmaster of the 19th century welcomed visitors into his brewery with open arms. He was, after all, proud of his establishment, and loved nothing more than to give the grand tour. That being the case, virtually every American brewery of the 1800s was equipped with what came to be known as Der Sternewirth, a sort of hospitality center where the beer flowed freely.
The visitor to the brewery finds the place where he can refresh himself with a drink of the product the manufacture of which has now been followed from beginning to end, a place found in every American brewery, and called Der Sternewirth."

Indeed, many beermakers considered Der Sternewirth to be one of the most important aspects of the brewery. As a homebrew club and not officialy a brewery we still follow this tradition and allow any visitors to our brewing sessions a place to refresh themselves with samples of our brew.

The second is the Reinheitsgebot, which in 1993 was replaced by the Provisional German Beer Law the "Vorläufiges Deutsches Biergesetz" which allows other ingredients like Wheat and and Cane sugar. We have modified it slightly to allow certain adjuncts the be added, usually spices, and other sweeteners, like honey to be added to our brews. But hey we're a club and rule bending to allow for 21st century ingredients is allowed.

Please enjoy and help yourself to a brew.
Peace
George "Der Brewmeister"
