I live in a hot climate and I've had some last and some corrupt after a few
years.
The CD's for burning are different than the cd's with music. Plus, there are
cheap cd's and $$ cd's. they all have different shelf lifes.
Should you really take a chance? It's so easy to burn them on new media.
Plus, you need to keep up with technology. Data CD's have greatly changed in
the way they are made and the formatting, not to mention speed, in the last 20
years.
I still say it is safer to keep everything backed up fresh.

Years and years from now, maybe. I've had some of my cd's for well over 20
years, and they still work.

A note on storage.
When using CD's as backups, remember that a cd doesn't last forever. They
will corrupt.
The same goes for DVD's and Flash Drives.
You should always remember to re-back up on new media constantly.
I once depended on just the external hard drive for a back up. Until one day
my computer crashed and so did my external hard drive.
As a digitizer, I was devastated.. I lost so many designs that I had for
sale that I hadn't backed up on CD yet.
So I can't stress how important it is to constantly back up your designs and
all your important files on several different types of media.
I have since found out that an external hard drive that runs on a "FAT32
SYSTEM" file is not a good idea and is more likely to crash.
constant back up on cd's or dvd's is the best............. scan disks that
you use for your cameras are another great way to backup.
Some of the Flash Drives require that you "eject" the drive before removing
it from your computer. My daughter failed to do that at school and lost all
her homework. Poor thing had to do it all over. LOL So if you use the
small flash drives, keep that in mind that some do require you to eject it
prior to removing.
Hope I've not confused anyone....... but I've learned all this the HARD
WAY..................

Just wondering everyone's favorite way of storing your embroidery patterns?
I keep running out of space on my flash drives, cd's, etc, then I have too
many places to look when I need a pattern, any help?
