The laundry bags I use for FSL is covered with a little powder , I put on it a
piece of non-wooven WSS for solidity and not too much dust ! It works well .

You don't need a tear away on the back of towels, just a solvy on top. Perhaps you need a dehumidifier so the solvy you have doesn't get moisture from the air...

Did you put the embroidery foot on? If you use a regular sewing foot it will cause this problem.  Hope this helps.   God Bless, Evelyn ...
