Hello Jim,
as you probably know, the "dealers" in both Billy Bunter, and Biggles tend to
ask ridiculous, hopeful and inflated prices on Abe and Amazon.
With Billy Bunter, eBay is probably the best guide. A good edition, in dust
wrapper, assuming it is not a signed copy ought to fetch between £20 and £30.
The earlier Skiltons possibly more.
Without dust wrapper, between £10 and £20.
Bessie Bunter of Cliff House School should be regarded as a part of the series,
and I would expect this to fetch more.
Yes, you will see adverts on Amazon and Abe, talking about a hundred pounds or
more, but this is ridiculous, and exploitative.
I have been a fan of Charles Hamilton for over 40 years, and I write and
contribute regularly to the various Internet groups. My own personal collection
is a large one if you include Magnets, Howard Bakers, etc.
So my advice, if your friend wants to sell, is avoid the so called dealers, and
stick with eBay.
Kindest regards, Brian

Hi Everyone,
An old friend is sorting out and getting rid of the books bought for her by her
father in the early 1950s. So far she has unearthed a huge pile from the attic
and is going to phone me back about the rest. She has a very early copy of 'Blue
Door Venture' by Pamela Brown (with dustwrapper) and quite a few Malcolm Saville
'Lone Pine' stories.
Most of this I can cope with but I have zero knowledge about Billy Bunter books.
I would welcome any advice about what she be looking out for in this area -
probably she will have editions from the 1950s - Are they worth anything ? - I
can't seem to make headway with Abebooks because of the volume of Billy Bunter
stuff available. I am also copying this message to Girlsown.
Cheers,
Jim
